Notes |
- A grandson of Andrew Thompson named George, born in August of 1888, was living with Andrew and Randie at the time of the 1900 census (June 17th). He was shown as attending school, he was born in Minnesota, and his father was born in Sweden.
George was apparently recorded earlier (June 5th) with his parents’ household in Minneapolis.
In the 1909 Minneapolis city directory, he is Geo H Willson, a clerk for Northern Express Co., residing at 1406 East 22nd Street.
In the 1910 census, he is living at home and is a bill clerk for an express company.
George registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in Minneapolis. He lived with his wife at 735 East 16th Street in Minneapolis and was employed as a fireman in the city fire department at Engine Co. #26, 722 East 22nd Street. He was described as of medium height and build with blue eyes and blond hair.
In the 1920 census, he and his wife Christine are living in Minneapolis in rented apartment on East 16th Street. They have no children. George is a fireman.
In the 1930 census, he and Christine are renting an apartment at 735 East 16th Street in Minneapolis. They have no children but they do have four “roomers” apparently living with them.
In the 1940 census, he is living apart from Christine. He is a fireman and lives at 2011 21st Avenue in south Minneapolis.
His death certificate shows that he was “found” on June 4th so he may have died earlier. At the time of his death, he was separated from his wife Christine and was living at the Nordic Hotel at 903 3rd Avenue South in Minneapolis. The cause of death is shown as “coronary sclerosis” but no autopsy was performed. The informant for the information on his death certificate was Rena Willson. George is shown as having been a Minneapolis fireman but he was considered retired at the time of his death.
