Orville Martin Ryan, 91, of Moline, died July 16, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 with a visitation one hour prior with a rosary recited at 9:45 a.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery and Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Orville was born May 19, 1918 in Moline to Martin and Mollie Bertha (Thompson) Ryan. He married Frances Rita Curry on November 13, 1954 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rock Island. Orville was a WWII Army veteran. He worked as a welder for six years for McLaughlin Body, Moline. He had also worked for 30 years at John Deere Plow Planter where he started as a welder and retired on March 1, 1980 from the parts department. He was very proud of his time with John Deere and loved talking about it. Orville was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline where he had been a food pantry volunteer. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #246 and a former member of the Moline Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping and did so for 20 years. He liked to play bingo and won all the time. He loved a good game of euchre with his family at Christmas and still could beat them all. He is survived by Wife of 55 years Rita Ryan Children Steven (Cheryl) Ryan Richard (Kellee) Ryan Patricia (Donald Mohr) Scranton Karen (Randy Martinson) Green Grandchildren Todd (Crystal) Scranton Erik (Ryan) Ryan James (Nikki) Scranton Timothy Scranton Chad Green Great Grandchildren Logan Scranton Ignatius Scranton and two great grandsons to be born in September and November Brother Jack (Doris) Ryan He was preceded in death by his parents.
