Notes |
- Arne Moen says that Johannes and family emigrated to the U.S. in April of 1854. The Lærdal parish record shows that Johannes and his family left Lærdal on April 19, 1854, bound for Amerika.
In the 1870 U.S. census, he is John Tronson, 45, farming in New Oregon Twp, Howard County, Iowa. The rest of his household is Susan, 43, Betsy, 21, Mary, 17, Hans Nelson, 80, and Mary Nelson, 72. Everyone had been born in Norway.
In the 1900 census, he is Johannes Thronsen, b. Jun 1826, living in Utica Twp, Chickasaw County, Iowa, with his wife Synneva, b. Aug 1827. They have been married for 52 years and came to the U.S. in 1854. The census enumerator is Nels Swennumson so he should have been able to understand Johannes and Synneva.
