- In the 1900 census, she was a dressmaker and lived at 437 7th Avenue S in Minneapolis. She was divorced.
In the 1905 state census, she and Francis were living at 990 15th Avenue SE in Minneapolis, an address to which they had moved only 2 days before. She was a 32 year-old dressmaker.
In the 1909 Minneapolis city directory, she is Mrs. Elizabeth Simpson, the proprietor of the Carlisle Hotel, 424 Hennepin Avenue.
In the 1910 census, she was Annie E Simpson, a 37 year-old widowed dressmaker living at 424 Hennepin Avenue with her daughter Fanny and several servants and lodgers. (There was also a 40 year-old single Anna E Simpson, born in England, a telegraph operator who roomed at 8th and Nicolett Avenue.)
She may be the Mrs. A. E. Warren, “sister,” living at 250 Hennepin Avenue (same as Arthur), whom Arthur refers to as his nearest relative in his 1918 draft registration.
Anna E Warren is the head of a large boarding house at 301 Hennepin Avenue in the 1920 census. Her occupation is keeper of a lodging house. She is shown as married, 42 years old, and having come to the U.S. in 1900. The boarding house at 301 Hennepin is the next one in the census after the one at 327 Hennepin which is the one headed by Stephen P Warren.
As Mrs. S. P. Warren, she was the informant for her mother’s death certificate. Her address at that time (1922) was 301 Hennepin.
In the 1930 census, Anna E Warren, 49, born in England, ran and owned a boarding house at 422 8th Avenue S in Minneapolis.
In the 1940 census, as Anna Warren, she lived at 709 8th Avenue S in Minneapolis. Living with her were her nephew, Fred Pulford, and a lodger named Borjhild Whitney.
Her death certificate identifies her as Anna Elizabeth Warren. According to her death certificate, her usual residence was 722 8th Avenue S. She died from bronchial asthma. She did not have a Social Security number. The informant for her death certificate was her sister Ethel Junck of Menomonie, Wisconsin.
