  Notes	In the 1905 state census he was newly-married. He and Adaline were living with her parents at 2105 Girard Avenue N in Minneapolis. He was a clerk. Adaline’s father, William Merril, was a painter. In the 1909 Minneapolis city directory, he was Bernard R Christy, pipe coverer, living at 2827 10th Avenue S. in the 1910 census, he was Bernard R Christie, living with his family near 28th and 10th Avenue S in Minneapolis. He was a painting contractor. He lived at 318 E Lake Street in Minneapolis at the time of his first wife’s death in 1918. He registered for the draft at the New York Life Building in Minneapolis on September 12, 1918, as Bernard Richard Christy. He was a U.S. citizen by his father’s naturalization. He lived at 1603 Stevens Ave. S. and was a self-employed decorator. His nearest relative was Genevieve Christy, also living at the Stevens Ave. address. He was described as tall and of medium build with light blue eyes and brown hair. In the 1920 census, he was a 40 year-old widower living (”lodging”) in Minneapolis. He was a painter. In the 1930 census, Bernard was married to Dollie and living at 719 E 15th Street in Minneapolis. He was an interior decorator. According to that census, Bernard was first married at age 24 and Dollie at age 26. In the 1940 census, he and Dollie and Robert lived at 3742 Vincent Avenue in Minneapolis. He was a decorator. He and Dollie had been educated through the 8th grade.
