- An article in the Oregon Dail Journal, April 9, 1919, headlined Cowlitz Boy Fought With Lost Battalion:
W. H. Williamson, a brother of the Estes Williamson, who is a Kelso high school boy, was a member of the famous “lost battalion” in the Argonne battle where he was severly gassed. He arrived in the hospital in San Francisco a few days ago according to a letter received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Williamson of Stella. Young Williamson lost his power of speech from the effects of the gas and his parents have not learned whether he has regained his speech or not.

He registered for the World War II draft in 1942. He worked for Standard Logging Company of Cochran, Oregon, and lived with his parents on Route 2, Longview, Washington, in Cowlitz County.
