He registered for the draft in Minneapolis, as Archie Cossett Dunn, on June 5, 1917. He was single and supported his mother. He was a cabinet maker. He was described as of medium height and build with blue eyes and brown hair.
He enlisted on 22 Jul 1918 and was released on 9 Dec 1918 according to his BIRLS death file.
According to MOMS, an Archie C Dunn married a Myrtle Taylor in St. Louis County on 10 Jul 1919.
In the 1920 census, he may be the Archie Dunn, 31, who lives in Maywood, Cook County, Illinois, where he is an office clerk for a safety device company. His wife Myrtle is one year older and they have a son, age 10, perhaps William Derwood, b. Minnesota. That Archie, however, had both of his parents born in Wisconsin.
A Myrtle Dunn, b. 20 Feb 1889, died in Fresno, California, on 21 Apr 1973. She was born in Illinois. Her Social Security number had been issued in Oklahoma.
In the 1940 census, he lives in Minneapolis wife his wife Mabel. Archie, 51, is a house painter seeking work. His wife Mabel, 43, works as a checker at a laundry. He and his wife have 7th grade educations. They own the house they live in, at 1509 East 28th Street, worth $2500, the same house in which they both lived 5 years earlier. They have no one else in their household although they do apparently rent out part of their house to another family.
He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War I.
