In the 1940 census, he and his wife and three children lived in LaMoure in LaMoure County, North Dakota. Charles was a dentist. He had 5 years of college, Gladys had two years of college. Irene was in high school. An obit in the Bismarck Tribune noted that he had practiced dentistry in North Dakota until leaving for Arizona about four years previously.
