In the 1895-1896 and 1896-1897 Duluth city directories, he is probably the Martin Aune, clerk for the Sager Drug Co., who resides at 2221 W Michigan. In the 1897-1898 and the 1899 Duluth city directories, he is Martin Aune, clerk, boarding at 2221 W Michigan. In the 1898-1899 city directory, he is Martin Aune, a clerk for Sagar Drug Co. and who boards at 2221 W Michigan. In the 1900 census, he is a druggist lodging in Minneapolis. In the 1910 census, he is a Martin L Aune a physician (”head specialist”) in Minneapolis. He and Leah had been married for 10 years. In the 1920 census, he is a doctor in Minneapolis. He and Leah have two roomers: George Orfald and Richard Gilbert. In the 1930 census, he is an “eye ear & throat” doctor in Minneapolis. George Orfald is one of his boarders. Also living with him and Leah is Richard Gilbert, “nephew.” Richard Gilbert is 21 years old and born in Minnesota to a father born in Wisconsin and a mother born in New York. In the 1940 census, he and Leah live at 2547 Emerson Avenue South in Minneapolis. He is a physician and surgeon in private practice.
