  Notes	He was an apprentice carpenter in the 1900 census. In the 1902 Fergus Falls city directory, he lives with his parents and works for the J M Bye and Co. In the 1905 Fergus Falls directory, she was Miss Hilga L and was employed at the State Hospital. A 21 year-old Gust Johnson, both parents born in Norway, was listed as a nurse at the state hospital in the 1905 state census. Cecil Johnson of Pelican Rapids was the informant for his death certificate. Gustaf was a car man for the Great Northern Railway. Gustaf was a widower and his usual residence was 1006 Sheridan Street in Fergus Falls. He died of uremia and kidney failure. In the 1910 census, he and Helga live in Devils Lake, North Dakota. The couple had been married for 2 years and had had no children. Gust was a tin smith in the “shops.” According to the birth record for Alice, he was a coppersmith. In the 1920 and 1930 censuses, he and his wife and son lived in Minot, North Dakota. Gust was an air man for the steam railroad. His obit noted that he was a carman for the Great Northern Railway for 41 years, and a member of the railroad carmens and pensioners association.
