In the column for “Condition”, there is no indication that she was “deaf, dumb, blind, insane, or idiotic.” She is still living with her parents in Minneapolis in the 1895 census. In the 1900 census, she, as 25 year-old Bertha Flatten, is an inmate at the School for Feeble Minded in Faribault. She died of feeble mindedness, epilepsy, and mitral stenosis.
