An obit in the Indian Valley Record (Greenville, California) on 7 Jan 1954, is for Carl M Bye who succombed to a heart attack at his home in Crescent Mills at the age of 77. He had spent many years in Plumas County where he served as a bridge construction foreman for the Western Pacific railroad until he retired to Crescent Mills “6 years ago.” Surviving him were two nieces and one nephew: Edward Kirkebey of Seattle, Mrs. Emma Rosendaal of Portland, and Ophelia Vanderhoffer of Klamath Falls.
