  Notes	Came to the U.S. in 1883 according to one census, 1880 in the 1920 census. He was a pastor in Crookston in the 1900 census. He was a pastor in Moose Twp, Roseau County in the 1910 census. He is listed in “The Valdris Book”, a history of the Valdris Samband published in 1920 (available on Google Books), as Rev B L Sundal of Farmington. He was a member of the Samband between 1913 and 1916. Not listed in any of the Valdris parishes in the 1865 Norwegian census. In the 1920 census, he and his wife and all of his children lived in Eureka Twp. He was a “clergyman, rural church.” Oscar was a farm laborer and Judith was a grade school teacher. He and Hilda and sons Harold, Gerhard, and Arnold lived in Eureka Twp, Dakota County, in the 1930 census. Berndt was a minister and farmer. According to his grandsons, Bernt attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis where he was in a traveling music quartet with F. Melius Christiansen. His friendship with Christiansen may have led to Bernt’s four oldest children attending St. Olaf College.
