In the 1940 census, as Austin O Strand, he and Ida and Doris lived in Dennison in Goodhue County. Austin was the proprietor of a garage. They had lived in the same house in 1935. When he registered for the WWII draft in 1942, he lived at 910 S Water Street in Northfield. He was self-employed. His wife was Ida.
