  Notes	In March of 1946, in Minneapolis, her brother Gordon killed their 23 year-old sister (Mrs. Dorothy Hickman) by strangling her during a drinking party on Nicollet Island. Sticks and mud had been forced down her throat and she had been brutally assaulted. Bruises on the lower part of her body were apparently caused by beer bottle caps being pressed into her flesh. Her nude body was found in a slough near the river on March 17 near Eastman and E Island Avenues. Mrs. Hickman’s shoes and clothing were scattered within a 100 foot radius. Gordon then took his own life nine hours later with a .38 caliber Colt revolver handgun while entering city hall in the custody of the police. Before his suicide, Gordon LaLonde admitted to blacking out during the drinking party. The drinking party had included at least one other person, Mrs. Alice Schense of 97 Nicollet Street. Gordon LaLonde was a veteran of WWII, a paratrooper, a veteran of the siege of Bastogne, and may have experienced a PTSD-type flashback. Corporal John Hickman was in a military hospital in Fort Lewis, Washington, at the time that his wife was murdered. Their two small children, Roberta Jean, 3, and LeRoy, 4, were in the house where the drinking had taken place.
