The life of Don Severson began January 16, 1908, when Don's 10-year-old brother, Arnold, drove a horse-drawn sled to meet a doctor at the corner between Carpenter and Northwood. In 1953, Don retired from farming, and the family moved to Carpenter where he took the job of teller at Carpenter Bank and later became the manager. Don and Icle moved to Florida in 1960 where he got a job as loan officer at Pratt Whitney Aircraft Corporation. After 24 years, they returned to the Midwest, making their residence in Austin.
