  Notes	Her birth was noted in the 18 Dec 1928 edition of the Star, p. 15. The oldest child or, at least, the only child living with Arthur and Gertrude at the time of the 1930 census. She, Joyce, when 6 years old was hit by a car which left her in a coma. She died in an institution at the age of 21. Erroneously referred to as Carol in her mother’s obituary in the St. Cloud newspaper. Her death certificate states that she had been in the Cambridge State Hospital for 12 years and 10 months which means she came there in March of 1937 when she would have been 8 years old. She died of broncho pneumonia complicated by a convulsive disorder. Her residence, probably at the time she was admitted, was 114 West 33rd Street in Minneapolis. According to Find A Grave: Joyce was the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude Hendrickson, the oldest of their four children, three daughters and a son. In her sixth year, Joyce suffered serious and life long injuries from being hit by a car. She died at age 21 as a result of this. Joyce was survived by her parents, her siblings, and three half-brothers. She was preceded in death by a half-brother, David Dale Marshall.
