Harley Capper Ellsaesser, 87, of Hugoton, Kan., died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kan.

The son of Rollo W. and Ruth (Stoner) Ellsaesser, he was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Stevens County, Kan. He was a lifelong resident.

He and Verda M. Iverson were married April 20, 1945, at Rapid City, S.D.

He was a hospital engineer for Stevens County, Hugoton, Morton County, Elkhart and Soutwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan. He was a repairman for appliances and TVs. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Hugoton. He was a past president of the Kansas Hospital Engineer Association and a past boy scout leader in Hugoton.

Survivors include his wife, Verda M. Ellsaesser of Hugoton; two sons, Larry Dean Ellsaesser and wife, Nell of Springfield, Missouri, and Gary R. Ellseasser and wife, Susan of Hugoton; two daughter, Sharon Lea Kraber and husband John of Guymon and Nancy Renee Riney and husband Terry of Pinehurst, N.C.; one brother, Frank Ellsaesser and wife, Catherine of Hugoton; three sisters, Dortha Schroeder and husband, Bob of Derby, Kan., Grace Orr and husband, Dale of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Lola Peter and husband, Jim of Ordway, Colo.; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Dale Ellsaesser, and one sister, Florence Warren.
A memorial has been established for the Faith Lutheran Church of Hugoton.

Celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hugoton with Pastor Christopher M. Fincher presiding. Military graveside services will be at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.
