He or his brother was one of the baptismal sponsors for Ole Ellingboe (#3235). He or his brother also, apparently, made the trip to Vestre Toten to be a sponsor for Thea (#269). Both Ole Aslaksons were baptismal sponsors for Marit Ovesdatter (#258).
Farmed Lajord 51/1 from 1890 to 1925. Built a new out building 1924.
According the 1865 census, Marit and Aslak had two sons named Ole, one born in 1844, one born in 1855. The older one’s occupation, at the time of the 1865 census, was “er hjemme og er Uhrmager.”
In the 1900 Norwegian census, Ole Aslaksson Kvam, a widower born 1855, was living on the Lajord nedre farm in Vang. His occupation was gaardbruger s uhrmager (farmer and watch-maker). Ole’s three children by his first wife, Aslak, Kristoffer, and Marit, were also living with him on the farm. Also living in the household were two servants and the føderaadsmand and føderaadskone, Endre Kristoffesson Lajord, b. 1828, and his wife Guri Torstensdatter, b. 1828. These were the people who had owned the farm previously and who still received a living and the right to live there.
In the 1910 Norwegian census, Ole Aslaksen Kvam still resides on Lajord 51/1 (Nerre-Lajord). The household also includes his 2nd wife, Marit Kristoffersdatter, as well as his five children: Aslak Olsen Lajord, Kristoffer Olsen Lajord, Marit Olsen Lajord, Ole Olsen Lajord, and Torstein Olsen Lajord. The two youngest children were by Marit. The household also includes Guri Torsteinsdatter Lajord, b. 1838.09.09, føderaadskone. | KVAM LAJORD, Ole Aslaksson (I3071)

He purchased Østerness on July 16, 1891, for 4000 crowns plus kår for her parents. Two years later the mudslide seriously damaged the farm. All of the people survived a traumatic rescue but the farm buildings were destroyed and the farm animals perished. Elias bought a small farm (Øver-Skjørdalen) nearby and moved his family there while he rebuilt Østerness. He moved the buildings to a small hill where it is today. He sold off several parcels of his farm where new owners established smaller farms.
He moved back to the new Østerness farm in 1904 and operated it until 1935 when his son Marius took over.
Elias and Laura had 10 children. | LYNG, Elias Olsen (I18960)
