In the 1880 census he was Torstein (”Sorstein”) Flaten or Flaton, 31, living in Minneapolis (”Lower Levee”) with his wife Rangdi, 23, and their three daughters Bertha, 5, Margaret, 2, and Annie, 4 months (born in January). Torstein is a carpenter.
He is shown in the 1885 state census as T. N. Flaten, living in Minneapolis. The household is himself, 35, “Maude”, 30, Bertie, 10, Dorothea, 8, Nellie, 5, and Nels, 2.
The 1895 census showed that he had been in Minnesota for 26 years which would be consistent with him and Randi emigrating in 1869. Tosten was a dairyman and he and his family lived at 1604 East Lake Street. In the 1870 census, he is probably the 25 year-old Thrond Iverson, a farm laborer on the Hoover Knudson farm in Winneshiek County, Iowa.
In the 1880 census, he, as T I Sondrold, and his wife and three sons lived in Buse Twp, Otter Tail County. His wife was Caroline C, age 26, born in Iowa.
In the 1900 census, he was Trond Iverson. He and his family still farmed in Buse Twp.

Thrond Iverson and wife of Fergus Falls are visiting with the formers brother, Nels Iverson, and family, and will remain until after the 4th.
March 13, 1913
Nels Iverson departed for Fergus Falls, MN, Saturday morning to attend the funeral of his brother Thrond, which was held Monday. Deceased was seventy years old, and is the only brother of Nels. He is Trond Østeinson Bø, I6878, in Jim’s VS. He is Trond Øysteinsson Ellingbøe, I1341, in Jim’s Ellingboe tree.
Emigrated 29 Mar 1853. Bought farm near Dennison, Minnesota. Traveled back to Vang in 1868 and at that time married Marit Nilsdotter, then returned to America. It was said that there were so many Ellingboes in the Dennison area that the family changed their name to Austinson.
Also from Jim’s site: "He was crippled by an accident, when he fell and hit his knee. He walked on crutches from then on. He is buried at Vang."

It is unlikely but he may be a child of Torstein Finnkjelson and Ambjørg Eivindsdatter Ellingbø. Neither Jim’s VS nor his Ellingboe tree includes Trond as a child of that couple.

He was not included in the 1900 census and was age 9 in the 1910 census so his birthdate must have been in 1901 if it was in March.
Lawrence registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, at the Metropolitan Bank Building on the corner of 2nd Avenue S. and 6th Street. He was a student at St. Thomas College in St. Paul although he gave as his permanent address the residence of his parents at 3537 West 28th Street in Minneapolis. Lawrence was described as slender and of medium height with grey eyes and dark hair.
