He is the “Andrew Ellestad” who Rose refers to in her interview with Evey in the early 1970s. Andrew went to South Dakota with Erick Thompson and Tom Thompson in the mid 1880s. Later Andrew went to Clarissa and was probably the reason that Erick Thompson and family moved to Clarissa.
Rose maintained that her uncle Tom Thompson and Tom’s wife Rangdi Ellestad (Andrew Ellestad’s sister) were 2nd cousins. _That_ implies that either Anne Endrisdatter Baggethun or Ole Vilhelmsen Ellestad were first cousins of Andrew Thompson or Rangdi Kvale. None of that is true.

He is the Anders, son of Tomas, on Vang B, p. 191. That entry for Anders (Andris) does not mention Thora Haugen, nor does it mention that Anders emigrated. It does, however, point out that Anders was unmarried, at least while he was in Norway, and that he had two illegitimate sons, each named Ola. The first Ola, b. 1852, was with Anne Tomasdatter Jøvne, the second Ola, b. 1857, was with Anne Knutsdatter Lieiga.
