7932 He and his father and his descendants were presidents of the International Bank of Amherst, founded in 1893 by Harry Burr Pomeroy’s father Louis A Pomeroy. That Louis A. He, with his family, lived in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, at the time of that country’s 1916 census.

Calvin and Bertha lived in Muskegon, Michigan, in the 1940 census. Calvin was a shipping foreman for a firm that sold wholesale sheep hides.

They lived in Norwood, Massachusetts, in 1942.

He is in a San Antonio newspaper photograph of 6 Jan 1948 standing in front of a tanner vat where a worker died.

The Devendorfs first appear in the Oshkosh city directories in 1953. The last entry is August of 1964.

In the 1960 Oshkosh city directory, he and Bertha lived at 1009 Ceape Ave. Calvin was president-treasurer of Oshkosh Tanning Co. Their daughter was called Karen in that directory and she was listed as a student.

Calvin was president of his church (Christ Lutheran, Oshkosh) congregation in 1964.

His spiritual life was an interesting story. He was raised Christian Scientist although not strictly. He had no real faith due to a rough childhood. He married a Lutheran, Bertha. They sent Caren to Sunday School and she took her dad with one Sunday. After that he became a believer and became an outstanding self educated Biblical scholar, giving sermons, Bible studies, etc.  He built St. Phillips Lutheran in Hastings, literally and figuratively. He was a charter member and also built the altar and cross. He was an interesting man with a great story.

7935 He and his new wife are living with her parents in the 1930 census. He is a salesman.

In the 1935/36 Fergus Falls city directory, he is R. Philip and is employed by (or owns) the Fergus Jobbing Co. He and Margaret live at 320 Maple Avenue. Same in the 1937/38 Fergus Falls city directory. In the 1939/40 Fergus Falls city directory, their telephone number was 818.

Incorrectly indexed as Peterson in the 1940 census. He is a salesman for a confectionary.

In the 1941/42 Fergus Falls city directory, he and S. Margaret still live at 320 Maple and he still works for or runs the Fergus Jobbing Co.

Listed in the 1910 census as having been born in Wisconsin.

7938 He and his parents are pictured on p. 150 of Vang B.

Vang B says that he went to Minnesota in 1915 and later to California where he was a foreman and supervisor on a drilling machine.

In the 1940 census, he and Ethel and Marianne lived in Bovey in Itasca County. He was a drill runner at an iron mine, she was postmistress at the post office. Ethel had three years of college. She earned more than he did in 1939.

His obit said that he was survived by siblings Lars in Edmonton, Canada, and Helge, Thomas, Toris, Nils, and Mrs. Randi Yorstad, all of Norway. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

7939 He and his parents came to the U.S. when he was 12 years old according to his obituary.

In the 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses, he was a farmer in Stanton Twp, Dunn County. In the 1900 census, he was called Mort. In the other two censuses, he was called Murice.

In the 1905 state census, he was called Maurice (and indexed as Quim).

His parents, James Quinn and Mary Deneen, were born in Ireland.

According to his death certificate, he was a retired farmer, wife Margaret. His usual residence was 428 Dayton Avenue. He died from pneumonia, complicated by a coma and senility.

His obit said that he was one of the pioneers of Dunn County. He resided on the same farm from 1868 until 1941 when he and his wife moved to St. Paul. 
QUINN, Maurice (I17897)
 
7940 He and his parents lived in Aitkin at the time of the 1920 census.

In the 1940 census, he and Dorothy and their two sons lived in Aitkin. Darrol was an automobile salesman. He had had four years of high school, Dorothy had had three. Five years earlier, he had lived in Isle in Mille Lacs County, she had lived elsewhere in Aitkin County.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 18, 1945, at Fort Snelling although he resided in Aitkin. He was married, had four years of high school, and was a bookkeeper in civilian life.

Lived in 2321 Hilltop Court in Santa Rosa, California, in the early 1970s. Lived at 271 Parque Fuente in Rohnert Park in 1993.

Survived his sister Eileen who died in May of 2005.

He was an automobile salesman in Santa Rosa.

In the 1953 Santa Rosa city directory, he was a salesman for Jansen Motor. He and Dorothy lived at 1804 Beaver.

In the 1968 and 1970 Santa Rosa city directories, he was a salesman for Veale Volksagen. He and Dorothy lived at 2321 Hilltop Court.

Darrold W. “Sparky” Parks passed away April 10, 2011. A native of Minnesota, he was born in Princeton on April 26, 1916. He grew up on his family's farm where he learned the value of hard work and a good education. He graduated as the valedictorian of his High School class of 1935. He served in the U.S. Army toward the end of World War II and worked in defense at Hill Air Force Field in Layton, UT. From an early age, Darrold was the consummate salesman, beginning with automobile sales in Aitkin, Minnesota and, after relocating to Santa Rosa, he continued to sell cars until his retirement. The love of his life was his wife Dorothy. They were together for seventy years before her passing. Darrold leaves behind sons Don and David and daughter Cheryl, five grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A special thank you to his granddaughter Dava who took wonderful care of Darrold after his wife's passing. He is preceded in death by two sisters and is survived by a brother and two sisters. These siblings shared a lifelong kinship and he will sorely be missed. The care from the staff of the Golden Living Center-London House is greatly appreciated. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary located at 301 South Main Street, Sebastopol.
