7913 He and his family lived in the Nordthosø farm in Jevnaker in the 1865 census. The family consisted of Jens Thorgersen “Smed Husmand med Jord” (blacksmith and tenant farmer with some land), b. 1820, his wife Ingeborg Andersdatter, b. 1816, and their five children: Gjertrud Jensdatter (“Hjelper Forældrene” - assists parents), b. 1840, Thorger Jensen (“Smed” - blacksmith), b. 1843, Anders Jensen, b. 1850, Iver Jensen, b. 1855, and Johan Jensen, b. 1857. Everyone except Ingeborg was born in Jevnaker. She was born in Gran.

Jens and Ingeborg were living in Marion Twp, Clayton County, Iowa (Strawberry Point post office) in the 1870 census. Living with them were Ever, 16, and John, 14, as well as Hans (age 22) and Julia (age 25) Anderson and their infant son Anders.

In the 1880 census, he was Jens T. Toso living with his wife Ingeborg and sons Iver and Johan in Norwegian Grove Twp in Otter Tail County. Also living with the family is Anders Toso, age 57, “boarder.” Living next door is Hans Anderson Toso, age 30, his wife Gertrude, 38, and their children Anton, 11, Maria, 9, Jens, 7, Ivar, 5, Oline, 2, and Josephine, 3 months. Presumably, Gertrude is Jens and Ingeborg’s daughter. Hans Anderson may be the Hans Andersen living on the nearby Brænna farm in the 1865 Norwegian census.

In the 1900 census he is an 82 year-old widower living with son Iver and family.
