In the 1940 census, he and Dorraine lived with his widowed mother in Hopkins at 346 11th Avenue North. Anna owns the house, worth $7000, and it was the same house that she and Earl had lived in five years earlier in 1935. Earl had had four years of college, Dorraine had had one. Earl was assistant to the manager of an automotive company.

Naval officer in World War II. Owner of Dahlberg Ford in Hopkins and was a commercial realtor and broker at the time of his death. Longtime member, and once president, of the Hopkins Rotary.

In 1953, he was the general manager, and his brother Ward the business manager, of Dahlberg Brothers Ford in Hopkins.

Earl built his large house at 12016 Douglynn Drive in Hopkins in 1954 according to the Hennepin County tax data.

7594 Gwen S. Mangus-Kildahl Kentucky / Northwest Indiana Gwen S. Mangus-Kildahl, 86, of Lexington, KY died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 15, 2004. A native of Gratz, KY, she was the daughter of Roud and Elizabeth Bailey Shaw. Preceded in death by first husband Boyd R. (Gus) Mangus and survived by husband Erling Eugene Kildahl; children, Boyd M. Mangus of Lexington, KY and Rob (Dorothy) Mangus of Munster, IN; grandchildren: Ingrid Dekauwe of Rockcastle County, KY, Pete Mangus of Redondo Beach, CA, John Mangus, Dave Mangus and Mary Mangus of Munster, IN; great-grandchildren, Laura and Mathew Dekauwe of Rockcastle County, KY. Gwen was born on All Saint's Day, November 1, 1917. As an only child of an Evangelist, her childhood was unique, learning geography through extensive travel across the United States. She began singing at the age of four and could also play the piano. She loved singing four-part harmony and continued singing in college. She graduated from Transylvania University with a Beachelor's degree in Liberal Arts in 1940. she worked as a social worker for the State of Kentucky before continuing her education at Purdue University where she received her Master's degree in English. Gwen taught 3rd grade in the Delphi, IN school system and then moved to Northwest Indiana where she taught in the Hammond, IN school system: 3rd grade at Harding Elementary, English at Lafayette Junior High, and French at Morton Senior High, where she was also the cheerleading sponsor. She taught her grandchildren the great music standards of the past 50-60 years by singing, whistling, and humming them everywhere she went, and she even taught her grandchildren some French. She spent time with them playing rummy and always tucked them in at night with the story, "Wait Till the Moon is Full". Above all, she had a larger than life personality that commanded attention when she entered a room. Services were held at the Central Christian Church in Lexington, KY on Monday, June 21, 2004 with burial at Lisbon Cemetery outside of Union City, IN. 7595 Gwenevere (Gwen) Anne Chapppell, daughter of Earle and Amanda (Orness) Chappell was born March 18, 1925 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended grade school in Grand Rapids, ND and graduated from Dickey High School in 1942. She was 16 years old. She attended a business college in Valley City, ND and then worked at Federal Land Bank in LaMoure, ND.

On February14, 1947 she was united in marriage to Duane Charles Young of Berlin, North Dakota. The couple began grain farming and had a cattle operation in the Berlin area. Gwen was a hard-working farm wife helping her husband with farm duties, managing the farm book work and raising their six children. In 1989, they moved to LaMoure, North Dakota, where Gwen enjoyed quilting, playing bingo, flower gardening and yard work. She liked to play golf and play cards with her friends. She also enjoyed playing cards with her sons and her sons-in-law and she liked to play the game Scrabble with her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed putting school projects together with her grandchildren and was very involved in their sport activities. She loved her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally.

After her husband Duane died in 2005, she moved into St. Rose Court Assisted Living in LaMoure, North Dakota and then later to Oakes Good Samaritan Society in Oakes, ND. After declining health she was moved to West Fargo to her daughter Susan Maier's home, where she was cared for by her two daughters Susan Maier and Jody Johnson and Hospice Care. She died peacefully in the presence of her two daughters on October 2, 2015.

She is survived by her three sons Larry (Bonnie) Young, Kim Young and Curtis (Tami) Young; three daughters Paddy (Dale) Harris, Susan Maier and Jody (George) Johnson; one sister, Shirley Young; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband Duane Young, her parents Earle and Amanda Chappell, a grandson Blake Johnson, her sister Marian Cuypers, and a brother Wallace Chappell.

One of Gwen's favorite Bible verses to her children is John 13:34.
