Graduated from Ole Torger School in 1927. His wife’s obit said that she and Ernest farmed in the town of Franklin from 1941 until 1990 when they moved to Viroqua.
According to Dorothy Fish Ekum's letter of March, 1983, Ernie, Susanne, and one of Susanne's sons visited Norway and the relatives "five years ago."
In her Christmas card of 1986, Dorothy Fish Ekum tells Cora that Ernest intended to retire from his town clerk job, "and 25 years of aggravation," in the spring of 1987.
Ernest’s obit said that he was a bookkeeper for the Wadhams Oil Co. for 7 years, Clerk for the Town of Franklin for 25 years, a member of ASCS board for 15 years, treasurer for the Ole Torger School Board, a member of the church council at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and a member of the Viroqua Eagles Club.
Not listed in the 1930 census. Was not listed with Albert’s household.
Ernie and Dorothy’s address in the country was Rt. #4, Viroqua 54665. The 1948 Vernon County plat book shows that Ernest owned 160 acres in Section 27: three of the four quarters of the SW corner (Carl owned the SE quarter of that corner) and the SW corner of the NW corner.
In the 1950 census, he and his family lived a couple of farms away from the Carl Nundahl farm in Franklin Twp, Vernon County. | EKUM, Ernest Theodore (I547)

Graduated from Oshkosh High School in its class of 1959.
From the January 9, 1962, edition of the Oshkosh Northwestern:
An August wedding is being planned by Miss Caren Belle Devendorf and David Stryzewski. Announcement of the engagement was made by the parents of the bride-elect, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Devendorf, 749 Monroe Street. Mr. Stryzewski is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stryzewski. Both graduates of Oshkosh High School, Miss Devendorf is a registered X-ray technician at Milwaukee Hospital and Mr. Stryzewski a student at Ripon College.
The beloved Caren Stry passed away on December 23, 2017 in Olathe, Kansas. Caren was born on August 21, 1941 in Norwood, Massachusetts, the only child of Calvin and Bertha (Thorsen) Devendorf. She spent her childhood years in San Antonio, Texas.
She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1959. She completed her X-Ray Technology degree at the Milwaukee Hospital School of X-Ray Technology. After graduating, she worked at the Milwaukee Hospital and the Berlin Hospital. She married the love of her life, David Stry, on August 18, 1962 and moved to Bloomington, Indiana. She worked at Bloomington Hospital while her husband completed his graduate degree. Caren and Dave moved numerous times to various parts of the United States; including Chicago, IL; Birmingham, AL; and Olathe, Kansas.
For Caren, her family was most important to her; she was an extraordinary wife, mother and friend. She quit working outside the home to raise their three children, Stephanie, Peter and Matthew. Caren also had many dear friends whom she cherished, especially the "birthday girls" and the "wine girls."
Caren was perpetually positive, for her every cloud had a silver lining. Caren was a kind and genuinely good person, a real "people person" that never met a stranger. She was most happy when she was with her husband and children. She enjoyed many fun trips with her family, especially trips to warm beaches, and the annual family get-togethers at Christmas and in the summer in Minnesota. Caren had many interests. She was an avid tennis player in her early years and sang in the church choir. Caren served as a member of the Service League, Curative Workshop, the Kansas City Symphony Alliance, and a board member of the Camp Fire Girls.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Dave, her children Stephanie (husband Whitney) Johnson, Cold Spring, MN, Peter Stry, Overland Park, KS, and Matthew Stry, Prairie Village, KS, and six grandchildren, Owen and Sonja Johnson, Matthew and Alexandra Stry, and Calvin and Daisy Stry.
A service celebrating Caren's life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Oshkosh Wisconsin. | DEVENDORF, Caren Belle (I963)
