Gilbert moved to Canada. As of April of 1912, he had a homestead in Alberta.
He registered for the draft in Duluth although the registration seems to have been taken in September of 1918 at the U.S. consulate in Vancouver, B.C. At the time he claimed to be a naturalized U.S. citizen and he gave his occupation as “prospector.” The person who would always know his address was E.E. Dale of 1112-1114 East Lake Street in Minneapolis.
A 1937 border crossing record indicates that he lived in Saskatchewan.
In another border crossing in 1939, at Blaine, Washington, he was returning to Canada from a job in California. He lived in Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan. His occupation was hard rock miner. His wife was Belinda Jane. He had arrived in the U.S. in August of 1902 at New York aboard the St. Louis.
In his crossing in 1944 at Havre, Montana, he was now a carpenter. His wife was Belle.

Gilbert O Loe owned an 80 acre parcel in Wang Twp, Renville County, according to a 1913 land ownership map. His 80 acre parcel was in Section 6, adjacent to a parcel owned by Ole G Loe.
Registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in Grimstad, Roseau County. He was a farmer living with his wife and child in Wannaska, Roseau County, Minnesota. He claimed exemption from the draft on the grounds of his poor health. He was described as tall and of medium build with light blue eyes and light brown hair.
He and his family (wife and 2 sons) were living on Pearl Street in Roseau, Minnesota, in the 1920 census.
He was a grain and stock farmer in Grimstad Twp, Roseau County, in the 1930 census.
There were two Gilbert Loes born of mothers whose maiden name was Ellingboe who were born at about the same time. One is this Gilbert. The other one, Gilbert I. (#10901), was born in 18 October 1885 and died 9 October 1959 in Yellow Medicine County. | LOE, Gudbrand (Gilbert) O (I6732)

Gilbert W. Odella, 76, Gheen, passed away at the Cook Hospital on March 24, 2014.
He was born Gilbert William Odella on December 24, 1937, at Hibbing, MN; the son of William and Inez (Lagerquist) Odella. He grew up in Cook and Gheen. Gilbert married Patricia "Pat" Himango on January 30, 1960 in Biwabik, MN. He worked in a gold mine in Montana for a time, then moved back to Gheen, where he made his residence most of his life. Gilbert was a heavy equipment operator for Ulland Brothers Construction, retiring after over 35 years of dedicated service. Gilbert and Patty took over the longtime family owned bar-restaurant business in Gheen and ran the well known Patty's Lost Week-Inn for a number of years. He had enjoyed going to casinos, boating, fishing, hunting and the outdoors of northern Minnesota. Gilbert was gifted mechanic and could fix most anything that went wrong or was broken. He made many lasting friends working at Ulland's, and many came to visit him when his health declined. Gilbert had a hummingbird garden that attracted numerous hummingbirds that he enjoyed watching. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia on February 26, 2012; 2 sisters, Donna Saarikoski on July 27, 2005 and Patricia who died at birth; and a niece, Carmen Odella in 1978.
Gilbert is survived by his sons: Mike (Becky) and John (Becky); a daughter, Kelly (Milo Villebrun); three brothers, Rodney (Judy) Odella, Mark (Karyn) Odella and Larry (Susan) Odella; a sister, Jean (Tom) Novak; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Single, employed as a clerk in a grocery store, and living at home with his parents at the time of the 1930 census.
In the 1939 Milwaukee city directory, as Walter F, he and his wife Olive live at 3416A North 27th. He is a bookkeeper at Rundle-Spence Manufacturing Co. Olive is a stenographer for National Carloading Corporation.
In the 1940 census, Walter and Olive lived at 3630 North 42nd Street in Milwaukee in a rented residence. He had had three years of high school, she was a high school graduate. He was a purchasing agent for a plumbing supply company. She was an assistant cashier for a steam railroad car loading facility. She made more money in 1939 than he did: $1400 to $1238.
In the 1947 city directory, he is a purchasing agent for Ben-Hur Mfg. He and Olive live at 3630 N 42nd.
In the 1950 census, he and Olive and their two sons live in Milwaukee. He is a salesman of industrial supplies.

Gilmer and Marie live not far from Conrad and Theodore in Fergus Falls in the 1910 census. Gilmer is the manager of the family butcher shop.
His obit in the 16 October 1918 edition of the Fergus Falls newspaper:
Gilmer Johnson, one of the well known residents of this city, died at 11 PM Tuesday evening at the home of his father, Theo Johnson, on Bismarck Avenue from pneumonia.
Mr. Johnson was born in this city and was 44 years of age at the time of his death. He had been in North Dakota engaged in wheat buying when he was taken ill. He is survived by his wife and one son who will have general and sincere sympathy.
His wife has been at International Falls on a visit with her brothers and it has been impossible to reach her by wire since he was taken ill, possibly on account of the derangements of the wire service owing to the forest fires. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Gilmer was a victim of the so-called “Spanish Flu” epidemic. His death certificate says that he died from influenza with double central and broncho-pneumonia. | JOHNSON, Gilmer (I3129)

Gina Louise Lien, 54 of Cooperstown, ND, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Gina was born March 15, 1958 in Cooperstown, ND to Ovidia (Soma) and Lloyd Thompson. She grew up and graduated from high school in Cooperstown. She married Larry Lien on October 25, 1975 in Cooperstown. Gina worked at the Cooperstown Nursing Home, Sheyenne Tooling and V-W Motors.
Gina loved spending time with her family, and taking care of her dogs. She enjoyed watching and participating in demolition derbies and watching Larry and Garret drag race. Gina also liked to take trips to Las Vegas.
Gina is survived by her husband, Larry of Cooperstown; 3 children, Garett Lien of Washburn, ND, Shane (Theresa) Lien of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lori Lien (Mark Gjavenis) of Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren, Preston Dahl, Stephen Lien and Austin Lien; parents, Ovidia and Clifford Anderson of Cooperstown; siblings, Gail (Farrel) Carlson of Bismarck, ND, Suzanne (Kevin) Nelson of Fargo, Lisa Thompson of Fargo, Laura (Jody) Brorby of Bismarck, and Rusty (Marlene) Thompson of Cooperstown.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Thompson; 3 infant sons; and her beloved dogs, Squeaky and Omar.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 5:00 till 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND.
