7155 Funeral service for Gwendolyn Irene Pike of St. Ansgar, were held Friday, August 29, 2003 at the St. Ansgar Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Gonnerman and Rev. James Goodhue officiating. Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Gwendolyn died on August 25, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Gwendolyn was born on April 14, 1907 in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Elmer L. and Ethel (Van Camp) Wilder. She married Archie Pike on November 7, 1925 in Austin, Minnesota. She liked gardening, started crocheting at the age of 76 and did doilies for all her children and grandchildren. She spent 62 years on the family farm. Gwendolyn was a lifelong member of the Otranto Community Church, was a member of the Ladies Aid and a member of Garden Club. She also raised sheep. Her home was always open for coffee and meals and was a summer home for relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1983, daughter Dawn McCormack, three brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren, three sons-in-law.

Gwendolyn is survived by seven daughters, Georgia Lindley of LaPorte City; Barbara Leraaen (Oral) of St. Ansgar; Mary Kittleson (Edward) of Greene, Audrey Goodew (Carroll) of Lewisburg, N.C.; Frances Milne (John) of Waterloo, Sandra Keith (Roger) of Algona, and Gwendolyn Eileen Helfter (James) of Sherrard, Illinois; 41 grandchildren; 100+ great-grandchildren; 25+ great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; Dorothy Naber of Mason City, Alice Olson of Northwood, and Thelma Delaney of Austin, Minn.

7156 Funeral services Eugene Jacobson will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in rural Grand Meadow, MN with Pastor Larry Iverson officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Eugene “Gene” Hershel Jacobson 84 of Grand Meadow, MN passed away Monday June 8, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.  

He was born July 21, 1930 to Ada and Reno Jacobson and graduated from Grand Meadow High School. He later married Darlene (Nelson) on November 12, 1950 and moved to the family farm where he lived his entire life. He was always a farmer at heart and never felt the need to ever retire from farming; though he had a brief position working for the State of MN. He was proud to say that was his only “off the farm job”. Gene loved farming, coffee with his friends at Lake GEO, spending time with his family and playing cards with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Darlene of 64 years, and children Sandra (Earl) Reiland of Hopkins, MN, Les (Ginny) Jacobson of Rochester, Randy Jacobson of Grand Meadow, Tim (Karen) Jacobson of Eagan, Karen (Rory) Ballweber of Eagan, Denise (Eric) Clement of Cresco, Iowa.  Gene had eight grandchildren; Justin, Leah, Emily, Jessica, Derek, Kjirsten, Neil, Emma, and three step-grandchildren; Don, Wendy and Paul. In addition he also enjoyed the company of his 4 great grandchildren. Eugene is also survived by his sister Joan (Milo) Roe of LeRoy, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ada and Reno along with his daughter Renae who died in 1968.

7157 Funeral services for Andrew K. Svien, were held at the Parker Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. G. H. Huggenvik, pastor of the First English Lutheran Church officiating. Mrs. John Parker sang "Behold A Host, Arrayed In White" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Flora Parker. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Svien, and included Lyle Brekken, Iver Halvorson, Arnold Jacobson, Burnett Jacobson, Norville Jacobson, and Julius Jacobson, all of Dennison. Interment was made in the family lot in the Vang's Lutheran church Cemetery near Dennison. Relatives and friends attending the services from away were from: Tucson, Ariz., Dennison, Northfield, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Cannon Falls, Red Wing, Kenyon, and Kasson. Andrew K. Svien, the son of Knute and Sisal Svien, was born at his parents farm home in Renville County, Minn., on August 27, 1878. When he was a young boy, he moved with the family to a farm in the Sogn community in Goodhue County, and there he attended the rural public schools and was also confirmed, at the Vang's Lutheran Church, located there. On Dec. 9, 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Jellum, at Harvey, N.D. They made their home there for several years, during which time, Mr. Svien was employed with the railroad. Following that, they homesteaded land at Parshall, N.D. They then moved to Dennison, where they resided for several years, following which, they moved to Kenyon. In 1942, they moved to Faribault, where Mr. Svien was employed at the Wilson Packing Company until his retirement in 1953. Since then, they have made their home at 216 4th St. N.W. Mr. Svien passed away at the St. Lucas Hospital on Tuesday evening Jan. 5, following a lingering illness. He is survived by his widow, Martha; by two sons, Merle of Faribault and Arlon of Tucson, Arizona; by a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Naseth (Inez) of Faribault; by four grandchildren; by two brothers, Knute Svien of Dennison and Austin Brekken of Northfield; by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Halvorson of Dennison and Mrs. Ingebord Jacobson of Dennison; and by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by three sons, Siegfried, Howard, and Myron; and by four brothers, Helge, Iver, Henry and John. SVIEN, Andrew K (I33015)
 
7158 Funeral services for Carl Marvin Lockrem, who was killed in an automobile accident east of Dennison on Friday evening, Dec. 21 were held in Vang Lutheran church Monday today at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. B. J. Blikstad, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Pallbearers were Lowell and Kenneth Estrem, Paul Kinvaland, Austin Brekken, Ingram Nesseth and Albert Remme all of the Northfield-Dennison community. Carl Marvin Lockrem was born Jan. 15, 1928 at Dennison the son of Austin and Melvina Estrem Lockrem. He grew to manhood in the community where on March 19, 1949 he was married to Miss Mildred Johnson. For a time they farmed near Dennison moving to Northfield a few years ago. Until recently Mr. Lockrem had been employed at the Purina Company in Minneapolis. Besides his widow Mr. Lockrem is survived by five children Daniel, seven, Gary, five; Ronald, four, Douglas, two and one half years and Lucille, one year of age. He is also survived by his sisters, Miss Beatrice Lockrem of Northfield and Mrs. Alva King of Dennison and a brother Austin Lockrem of Northfield.

Lockrem had left his wife and children at the home of a relative in Warsaw township and was driving to Dennison to have his car fixed. His car skidded on an icy patch and plunged into a ditch. The accident occurred on Goodhue County Road 9, a mile and a half east of Dennison. Lockrem had recently been laid off from his mill job in Minneapolis. He died od a skull fracture.

7159 Funeral services for Delores (Babe) Ellingboe were held Monday, June 13, 1987 at the United Church of Christ, Granite Falls, with the Rev. Rosanna Walker officiating. Active pallbearers were David Day, Kevin Day, Dallas Odegard, Jason Day. Honorary pallbearers were Arvid Erickson, Robert Kruse, Bruce Iverson, Howard Gatchell, Lyle Arnett and Bradley Ellingboe. Interment was at the Granite Falls City cemetery.

Delores (Babe) Jean Ellingboe was born on October 16, 1930, in Granite Falls township, the daughter of Sidney and Laurena Day. She was baptized in the Congregational Church and was married to Ellsworth (Fat) O. Ellingboe on November 10, 1951, at Wang Lutheran Church, rural Maynard.

7160 Funeral services for Edward A. (Dewey) Litsheim were held at the Parker Funeral Home in Faribault on Monday afternoon, July 16, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. A. L. Rustad of Faribault officiating. Mrs. John Parker sang "Beautiful Saviour" and "Abide With Me" accompanied by Mrs. Flora Parker. Pallbearers were: Clyde Sears, Paul Koring, Axel Thompson, Willis Steele, and Earl Gravelin all of Faribault, and Joseph Hudak of St. Paul. Interment was made at the National Cemetery at Fort Snelling. Members of the Faribault Barracks No. 949 Veteran's Of World War I, The American Legion Post 43 of Faribault, the Rice county Post 1562 Veteran's Of Foreign Wars, and the Faribault Chapter of the Disabled American Veteran's provided an honor guard and military rites at the cemetery. Included were the following members: John F. Kenney, commander; Frank Miller and Maurice Van Thomme, color bearers; Lloyd Zuehlke and Everette Brandemeuhl, color guards; Bert Murphy, Robert Thiffault, William D. Miller and Sylvester Fiebiger, firing squad; William Juhnke, bugler; and Enis Sahl, escort. Relatives and friends attending the services from away were from: El Cajon, Calif.; Tucson, Ariz.; Ironwood, Mich.; New Orleans, La.; Eau Claire, Wis.; Minneapolis, St. Paul and Kenyon. Edward A. Litsheim, the son of Johannes and Christine Strand Litsheim, was born at Madison, Minn., on January 21, 1893. He moved with the family to Kenyon where he attended school and grew to young manhood. As a young man, he received training in barbering and worked at that trade in Kenyon for several years. During World War I, he served overseas in France with the A.E.F. Following discharge from military service, he returned to Kenyon, where he barbered for several years. He then went to North Dakota, and following that, he came to Faribault, where he has since made his home, and continued in the barbering trade. Mr. Litsheim passed away suddenly at his home at 306 7th St. NW on Thursday morning, July 12. He is survived by two sons, Dewey L. Litsheim of El Cajon, Calif.; and Richard D. Litsheim of Faribault; by five grandchildren; by five brothers, Theodore Litsheim of Eau Claire, Wis.; Obert Litsheim, Robert Litsheim and Carl Litsheim all of Minneapolis and Earl Litsheim of Ironwood, Mich.; by five sisters, Mrs. Hiram Broin (Anna) of Kenyon, Mrs. Christine Bates of Minneapolis, Mrs. Doris Gibson of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Theresa Wolters of Faribault and Mrs. Selma Whitmore of North Dakota; by a number of nieces, nephews and by other relatives. he was preceded in death by his parents and by three sisters.
