Flaten Esther M. (Melin) Flaten of south Minneapolis, age 82, died at home Sunday after being diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Amelia Melin. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Leo G. Flaten; her son, David Flaten; daughter, Janet Sass & her husband Thomas Sass and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Laura & Christina Sass. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for over 70 years, serving as church secretary and librarian for many years. She taught business education classes at Henning, Sandstone and Patrick Henry Public Schools and McConnell Travel School. Esther was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, leaving behind many wonderful lifetime friends, good memories and a strong legacy of faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service celebrating her life with us and her eternal life with Christ will be held at 11 AM Thursday, Oct. 7 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 720 - 13th Ave S., Mpls. Private interment, Atwater Union Cemetery.
