Ethel L. Highum, 102, of Rushford, Minn. died on Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Ethel was born on March 26, 1910, in Arendahl Township, Fillmore County, Minn. to Thomas and Agnes (Moldrom) Lee. She was raised at Arendahl and attended Peterson Schools.
On December 12, 1929, she married Gorman Highum. Ethel farmed along-side her husband in the Arendahl and North Prairie areas for many years. She was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church and was very active in her church in many capacities. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by five daughters: LaVaughn Helleland of Rushford, Donna (Roger) Trester of Rushford, Doris Holger of North St. Paul, Minn., Gayle (Harvey) Taipale of Lake Elmo, Minn., and Kay (Robert) Feine of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; a very special niece whom she raised, Louise (John) Marier of Ladysmith, Wis.; seventeen grandchildren: Leon, Diane, Judy, LuAnn, Vicky, Patricia, Linda, Kathy, Steve, Deborah, Jon, Eric, Mari, Greg, Dan, Paul, and Joelle; 35 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

Ethel Roster, age 99 of Northfield, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Northfield Hospital. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 5th at the Northfield Retirement Community Chapel with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Chapel Thursday 1 hour prior to Services.
Ethel Adella Roster was born February 13, 1913 near Milan, MN, daughter of Ingebret and Emma (Fensand) Olson. She was raised on the family farm until the age of 14 when she moved with her mother and sisters to Minneapolis where she attended Minneapolis Vocational High School. In 1929 she married M. B. Soine and they farmed near Dennison and were later divorced.
Ethel then moved to Minneapolis with her son Larry where she met Edward R. Roster and they were married on May 21, 1948. They made their home in Minneapolis where she worked at various jobs and following Ed's death in 1973 she moved to Richfield to care for her mother until Emma's death in 1981.
In 1982 she moved to Northfield where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and cribbage, gardening and raising flowers. In her younger days she loved dancing and in later years watching golf on TV. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and enjoyed preparing traditional Norwegian foods.
Ethel Roster is survived by son Larry (Anita) Soine of Ocala, FL; granddaughters Lisa (Jonathan) Lees and Pamela (David) Skluzacek; great grandchildren Chelsea Skluzacek, Katherine and Hans Soine; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward; sisters Tillie Hanson (2001) and Helen Endresen (1980). | OLSON, Ethel Adella (I21694)

Ethel Viola Evensen, age 94, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Bigfork, Minnesota. She was born in the small town of Leeds, North Dakota in 1923 to Peter and Gudrun Nelson.
Ethel married Hubert Evensen in 1943. She was a loving mother and grandmother of five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Ethel loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert Evensen; daughter, Sandy Randall; son-in-law, Ronnie Randall; and brothers, Charles, Norman, Melvin, Ernest, George, and Edwin Nelson.
Ethel is survived by her daughters: Pam McKenzie, and Vicki (Jack) Hagen; grandchildren: Kara Randall, Mandy (Kurt) Landwehr, Josh (Dawn) Hagen, Matt (Ashmita) McKenzie, and Abby (Dan) Willie; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: Kenny and Vic Nelson; and her sisters: Lillian Pinette and Shirley Davis.
Ethel resided at the Bigfork Valley Villa until she required more care and moved to Country Acres.
