6263 Elliot S. Larson, 86, of Austin passed away at St. Marys Hospital on May 2, 2009.

Elliot was born on April 21, 1923 in Sargeant Township to Lewis and Sophia (Starks) Larson. As a boy he was involved in his church, Evanger Lutheran where he served as President of Young People's Lutheran League. He was also very involved in 4H. He attended high school in Austin, and graduated in 1941. Charlotte and Elliot were united in marriage in December 1943. Two children were born in to the marriage, Carole and Kevin. Elliot served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He served as a Squad Leader and machine gun section leader. He was in combat with the 26th Infantry Division, received Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, European Theater of Operations with 1 battle star. He became a member of the First United Methodist Church in 1946 and served in nearly every capacity throughout his years there. He was a very devoted Christian, husband and father. He was a Scoutmaster Troop 110 for many years and served scouting in various capacities, receiving the Silver Scout award in 1967. He also coached a Little League team in Austin.

Elliot loved to travel with his family, hunt, and fish, play soft ball, play cards, especially bridge. He worked for the Hormel Co. for 43 years, 10 months and enjoyed every bit of it. He often moonlighted in light construction, or as a painter,weed sprayer, fruit stand operator and farm worker. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time in Donna, Texas in the winter.

He is survived by his daughter, Carole (Joe) Wike, San Pedro, Calif.; son, Kevin (Ellen) Larson, Kingwood, Texas; sisters-in-law, Jeannine (Dick) Buechner and Phyllis Waldron of Austin; many nieces and nephews and his four grandchildren, Hattie, Reid, Jennie and Anna Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and brothers and his wife.

6264 Elmer Dalager of Montevideo died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park, Minnesota, at the age of 96.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Elmer Norman Dalager was born January 6, 1918 at Granite Falls, MN the son of Christopher and Mathilda (Ellefson) Dalager. He attended rural school and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1937. Elmer served in the US Navy during WW II and was stationed in the Philippines. On April 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Idell Erickson at the Hanley Falls Lutheran Church. They lived for a short time in Minneapolis and Marshall, Minnesota, before moving to Montevideo in 1949. Elmer worked at Molde’s Electric before becoming deputy county treasurer in the late 1950's. He served as the Chippewa County Treasurer until retiring in the early 1980's. Elmer played town team baseball in his younger years. He put a lot of time and energy into the development of Lagoon Park. He enjoyed camping, fishing and playing golf. He especially loved being around people and had a good sense of humor.
 
He is survived by his two daughters: Susan Halverson and her husband Jon of Minnetonka, and Karen Ryan and her husband John of Plymouth; three grandchildren: Molly (Sam) Auseth, Adam (Rhiana) Halverson and Robert Ryan; six great-grandchildren: Olivia and Dylan Auseth, Adriana, Ivy, and Hudson Halvorson, and Lachlyn Ryan.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Idell in 2004; four brothers: Orville, Melvin, Christopher, and Chester Dalager; and two sisters: Lillian Stevens and Ruth Stevens.

Elmer was a veteran of the first World War. He showed his birthyear as 1896 on his draft registration form. He registered on June 5, 1917 in Colman Township, Moody County, S.D. He as shown as of medium height and build with light brown hair and light blue eyes. He is married and offers as a reason to be exempt from the draft that he has a wife to support.

The family was living in Fremont Twp, Moody County, in the 1920 census. The family consisted of Elmer, 24, Agnes, 20, Daniel, 3 months, Eric Johnson, 82, father-in-law, and Herman Niederist, 24, hired man.

In the 1940 census, the family lived in Lynn Twp in the same house in which they had lived in 1935. Elmer had a seventh-grade education, Agnes an eighth-grade education, Donald had one year of college, and Lorell had finished high school.

In the 1945 state census, he lived in Lynn Twp, Moody County. He had an eighth-grade education, owned his farm, and married Agnes Holm in 1916.
