Ellen G. Bieberitz, age 93, of 338 N. Jackson Street, Valders, died Monday afternoon, February 20, 2012, at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on October 27, 1917 in Reedsville, daughter of the late Christian and Etta (Torrison) Hougen. Ellen graduated from Valders High School and then attended Manitowoc County Teachers College. On May 3, 1941 she married Theodore H. Bieberitz in Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1993. Ellen was a teacher in a one room school house in the Valders area for many years. Besides being a loving and devoted mother, Ellen worked many part time jobs. When her children were in school, she went back to teaching at the Valders Elementary School while attending Silver Lake College. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and held the position of the first woman president for the Ladies Aide.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Jay and Inga Bieberitz, Arkansas, Jerold and Ann Bieberitz, rural Valders, Thomas and Gay Bieberitz, Marinette; one daughter and two sons-in-law: Beverly and Victor Schnell, St. Nazianz, Greg Daul, California; nine grandchildren: Ty and Sheree Daul, Trevor and Kathaleen Daul, Kymberly and Gerald Valleskey, Coty Schnell, Christian Schnell, Jerrod and Katie Bieberitz, Derrick Bieberitz, Denin Bieberitz and Maria Bieberitz; and six great-grandchildren: Kahli, Annalise and Indya Daul, Makenna, Alexa and Trentin Bieberitz. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Russelyn Peterson, David and Dennis Hougen and a special thank you to Patti Voigt Maly. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Ellen Mae Skogstad went peaceably to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017.
She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Lewiston, to Charles and Rose McNutt. Ellen graduated from Kettle Falls, Wash., in 1942. Later she moved to Seattle. She graduated from The Seattle Bible Institute, and she met and married her husband, Obert, in 1946.
In 1951, they moved to Lapwai and pastored the Assembly of God Church until moving to Clarkston in 1961. Together, they would minister in various churches in the surrounding area. They also ministered in scripture and song at the Clarkston jail and local nursing homes.
Ellen was known for her beautiful singing voice, and she loved to tell God every day how thankful she was for everything. She had a quick wit and was steadfast in character. Ellen was noble and her spirit emanated unconditional love.
She retired from Blount in 1989.
Ellen is survived by her children as well as eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed every chapter of her life and was loved by all. She will be missed.
