627 According the 1865 census, Marit and Aslak had two sons named Ole, one born in 1844, one born in 1855. The older one’s occupation, at the time of the 1865 census, was “er hjemme og er Uhrmager.”

Both Ole Aslaksons were baptismal sponsors for Marit Ovesdatter (#258).

From Ove Ovesen’s letter to his mother in January of 1896, it appears that this older of the two Oles had died in 1894 or 1895 and that he had married but had no children. It also can be inferred from Ove Ovesen’s letter that this older of the two Oles died in Minnesota because it seems as if Ove had visited his house.

The 1880-1881 Minneapolis city directory shows an O.A. Kvam, watch mkr. for A Evanson & Co. boarding at the Victoria Hotel.

The 1881-1882 Minneapolis city directory shows an O.A. Kvam, watchmkr. for W.C. Leber, boarding at 203 N. 2d Ave.

The 1882-1883 Minneapolis city directory shows an O.A. Kvam, watchmaker for W.C. Leber, residing at 207 N 3rd Ave.

The 1883-1884 Minneapolis city directory shows an O.A. Kvam, “with W C Leber,” residing at 913 North Washington Ave.

The 1885 and 1885-1886 Minneapolis city directories show an Ole A. Kvam, a watchmaker employed by W C Leber, residing at 112 S 3rd Ave.

The 1886-1887 Minneapolis city directory shows an O.A. Kvam, jeweler for W.C. Leber, residing at 112 S 3rd Ave.

The 1888 Minneapolis city directory shows an Ole A. Kvam, watchmaker for W C Leber, residing at 111 Island Ave.

MOMS shows an Ole Kvan marrying a K Paulseth in Hennepin County on 25 Jan 1888. FS’s Minnesota County Marriages has no name for the woman but says she was 25 years old and that Ole A Kvam was 38.

An advertisement for W.C. Leber (”Dealer in Watches, Clocks, and Jewelry.”) in the 1888-1889 Minneapolis city directory includes the line “O.A. Kvam, Repairing of Fine Watches.” W.C. Leber was at “No. 208 Hennepin Avenue.”

That 1888-1889 directory shows Ole A. Kvam, watchmaker for W C Leber, residing at 111 Island Ave. Note that this is the same address for his first cousin, Jøger Ellingboe (#4056), who was a jeweler for Adolph Leber.

The 1890-1891 city directory also shows Ole A Kvam, watchmaker for W C Leber, residing at 111 Island Ave.

An article in the Saint Paul Globe, Tuesday, February 27, 1894:

O. A. Kvam, the jeweler, died at St. Mary’s Hospital Sunday from the effects of an operation to relieve an ulcer in his stomach. He was advised by Dr. Hoegh to have the operation performed two weeks ago but kept putting it off and it is thought that the delay proved fatal as the disease gained such headway that medical skill was unavailing.
KVAM, Ole Aslaksson (I3068)

628 According the 1930 census, she and her parents were born in Minnesota.

Her last name is shown as Lovelace on Edward Warren’s birth certificate. An Eva Lavlice was born in the town of Culver, St. Louis County, on 24 August 1904 to Roy Lavlice, 35, a laborer and his wife, Inez Holbrook, 19. Eva was the 2nd child born to this couple.

In the 1920 census, she is the 15 year-old Eva Lovelace or Loveless, “niece”, living with Dennis, age 69, and Helen, age 40, Conely in an apartment at 3633 Columbus Avenue. Helen was born in Massachusetts to a father born in Louisiana and a mother born in Maine. Helen may be the sister of Eva’s mother’s father. A Dennis P Connelly died in Hennepin County on 17 Jun 1925.

In the 1922 Minneapolis city directory, she is Evangeline Lovelace, a machine operator boarding at 1831 4th Avenue S.

She is probably the Evangeline Thompson who died in Edmonds, Lynnwood, Snohomish County, Washington, on 13 September 1980. That Evangeline’s birth date was 24 August 1904 according to the SSDI. Her SS# had been issued in Washington.

From the censuses, it appears that Eva/Evangeline’s mother, Inez, was born in March, probably 1885 or 1886, in Minnesota to Frank J Holbrook and Evangeline S.C. somebody-or-other. Evangeline is not listed with Frank in the 1900 census and is married to William Palmer of Devils Lake, North Dakota, in the 1910 census. Frank Holbrook is shown as born in Louisiana in most censuses; Evangeline S.C. is always shown as born in Maine.

We don’t know where “Ebbe”, the sometimes-designation of her surname, came from.
