A native of Iowa, he was born October 1st 1898, and moved to North Dakota to teach school at Drake and Towner. He was elected McHenry County Superintendent of schools in 1934, a position he held for 16 years. In 1935, he initiated the first hot lunch program in the United States. In 1939, he was appointed to the first North Dakota State Board of Higher Education. He resigned from the Board in 1954 to become the State Director of Vocational Rehabilitation and retired in 1968.
As a World War I Veteran, Mr. Kidder was American Legion Post commander and adjutant at Towner and was honored by the Legion.
He became Grand Master of Masons in North Dakota in 1955.

A note in the Brainerd paper in March of 1924 said that she had moved to Marion, Indiana, to take a position as a dietician in a new laboratory.
In the 1940 census, she and her father lived at 1441 North Humboldt Avenue in Milwaukee, a rented residence. She was a high school graduate and her father had an eighth grade education. She either widowed or divorced. Her occupation was x-ray worker at an x-ray laboratory, a job which earned her $720 the previous year.
Living in Milwaukee, at 1441 North Humboldt, at the time of her father’s death in July of 1947.

A note in the Vernon County Censor’s 17 Dec 1919 edition noted that Mrs. Albert Ekum and baby are spending a few days at Viroqua where the little one is under the care of a doctor.

He lived at home with his parents and siblings in the 1940 census. He was a farm laborer and had been educated through the 8th grade.
He was discharged from Fort Sheridan in Illinois in August or early September of 1945.
Archie’s obit in the Viroqua paper listed his date of death as October 30th.
Was in the service in Birmingham, England, and, apparently, stayed.

An article in the La Crosse Tribune’s September 6, 1945, edition reported that Pfc Archie Ekum was “home from the European thater of operations and was discharged at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.” No mention is made of whether or not Archie was married at that time. A note in the “Bemidji” section of the Duluth Evening Herald’s Saturday, August 27, 1904, edition said, “Miss Tillie Ellingbo, who has been the guest of Miss Cora Ralston for the past three weeks, returned Tuesday to her home in Crookston.”
An article on Tillie Ellingboe’s wedding to William Gilbert, a “well known Great Northern railroad man”, appeared in The Evening Times, later called the Grand Forks Herald, in its 2 Feb 1911 edition. “The bride had been visiting her parents who are spending the winter on a claim near Kelliher for a few weeks and returned to the city unannounced for the marriage ceremony. It was performed Friday evening at the home of her aunt by Rev. T.T. Ove and the happy couple are now cozily settled in apartments in the Rauch block.”

He is Charley in the 1900 census, born Feb 1899 in Minnesota.
He registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Balsam Lake as Charlie William Harder. His permanent address is Centuria, Polk County, Wisconsin. He is a farmer employed by himself. He seems to have temporarily resided in Morgan County, Colorado, because his employer’s address is shown as that and there is a notation on his registration card that “Reg. certificate issued by Morgan County, Colorado.” His nearest relative is Charlie H Harder of 34 West Indiana Avenue in St. Paul. He was described as of medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair.
In the 1940 census, he and Alice and his four children live with the Tresemers, Alice’s parents, in Rockford, Illinois.
