4612 Clara Kilde, 96, of the Broen Home died Saturday, March 30, 1991, at the home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church, with the Revs. David Veum, J.H. Levang and Everald Strom officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1894, at Boyd, Minn., the daughter of Christian and Marie (Johnson) Stigen. The family moved to rural Almora in 1896 where she grew up and attended school.

On Jan. 4, 1917, she married John Kilde and the couple made their home in Fergus Falls. John died in December 1952. For eight years Clara worked as a nursing assistant at Pioneer Home.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Women's Missionary Fellowship and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia (Mrs. Everald) Strom and Dorothy (Mrs. Walter) Christiansen, both of Fergus Falls, Cordelia (Mrs. Duane) Trones of Minnetonka, and Ardith (Mrs. Raymond) Seaver of LeSueur; two sons, Marlin Kilde of Bayport and Rev. John Kilde of Fergus Falls; 29 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Olson Funeral Home and will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Brethren Seminar.

4613 Clara M. Gillebo, age 32, for nine years a resident of Spokane, died yesterday at her home, E2224 Empire avenue. She leaves her husband and two sons. HARALDSON, Clara Martha (I37523)
 
4614 Clara Marie Soine Knudson, age 97 years, of Mount Vernon passed away November 14, 2012 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born in Maynard, Minnesota March 29, 1915 to Christopher and Marie Peterson Soine, the 10th of 13 siblings, who moved to Rolette, North Dakota in 1916. She moved with her family to Mount Vernon in 1928 and attended Harmony Elementary School and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1933. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon in 1929. After graduation she attended business school, before working as a caretaker in Seattle. On January 27, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leonard A. Knudson and they settled at the Knudson family home on the Britt Slough Road in Mt. Vernon, where they raised their three children. Clara had many jobs to support her family including raising chickens and selling eggs, candling eggs, working at the cannery, and was a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service for 19 years. She also found time to be an active participant in the Sons of Norway, an officer in the local and state PTA, was involved in politics and she loved sewing, baking bread and lefse and taking care of her family. She and Leonard loved to dance. For years, she was an avid bowler, acquiring many bowling trophies. In the early 1960s, she and Leonard, with a little help from their family, built their own home on Young Road, where they lived until his death in 2007. Clara was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mount Vernon, being the longest participating member of the Altar Guild in its history. She and Leonard enjoyed visiting friends and relatives and traveling, especially to Oregon, Maryland, Mexico, Scandinavia, Japan, Australia and England. Clara spent her last years at the Bridge Assisted Living in Mt. Vernon, where she appreciated the care and warmth of the staff. Survivors are her daughter Sharon and husband Larry Wahl of North Potomac, MD and their children, Allison (Matthew) Malloy and their daughters Calista Marie and Baby Malloy (due in March) of Bethesda, MD and Christopher (fiancée Anna Rosol) of Montreal, Canada; son Wayne and his wife Gretta of Mt. Vernon and their step-daughters Renee (David Willis) and Nicole (Steve Clark) Bouvion; daughter-in-law Sandi and sons Brent (Davina) Knudson and children Jack and Maggie of Sammamish, WA and Kini (Erika) Knudson and children Karson, Haydon, and Evan Rose of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Margaret Gedmin, Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law Ingrid Soine, Everett and niece Sondra (Gary) Davis, Sedro Woolley. Additional survivors include numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, who will all miss her strong will, wisdom, and warm sense of humor. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Marie Soine, her son Leonard Allen (Lennie), her beloved husband Leonard of 67 years, 4 sisters: Helen, Oline, Selma, Christine and 7 brothers: Clarence, Harold, Clayton, Albert, Theodore, Robert, and Oliver Soine. Public graveside services and burial will be held at the Fir-Conway Lutheran Cemetery near Milltown at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 25, 2012, with public memorial services following at 3:00 PM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2015 E. 4617 Clarence Benjamin Nystuen, 90, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 in Payson, Arizona. Clarence was born November 13, 1915 in Northfield, Minnesota to Eliam and Emma Nystuen. The family attended Bethel Lutheran Church, founded by his Grandfather, John T. Nystuen. He attended a neighborhood one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade and then attended Northfield High School, graduating in 1935. While still in High School, he and his older brother, Maurice, took over the family farm. Clarence was an innovative farmer, always ready to try the newest equipment and methods. Clarence married Betty Batson of Castle Rock, Minnesota on March 20, 1947. They had 3 daughters while in Minnesota. Clarence was involved in the Northfield Saddle Club, serving as President for several years. In 1959, Clarence and Betty sold the family farm, moving to Montana briefly, where their 4th daughter was born. They then settled in Casa Grande, Arizona where Clarence sold farm machinery for Bingham Equipment for the next 25 years. After retiring in 1985, Clarence and Betty moved to Payson, Arizona where Clarence spent his time collecting antiques, shopping at yard sales and visiting with friends, neighbors and out-of-town guests. He was a life-long Republican. Clarence is survived by Betty, his wife of almost 59 years; three daughters: Becky Alvizo of Casa Grande, Carol Nystuen of Tempe, and Linda Nystuen of Casa Grande; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Alvizo and Joanna Duncan of Tucson, Steve Wilson of Tempe, Sonja Wilson of Flagstaff, Bethany and Jennifer Benedict of Casa Grande; one great-grandson, Jerris Duncan of Tucson; and many favorite nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Pamela Betty Nystuen; two brothers: Elmer and Maurice Nystuen; two sisters: Mabel Arneson and Helen Miller, all of Minnesota. A memorial service is scheduled for High Noon on Saturday, February 4 at Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N Easy Street, Payson, AZ 85541. 4618 Clarence M. Newgard, 84, a retired farmer and a veteran of World War 1, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday in St. Olaf Hospital at Austin.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hartland Synod Lutheran church. Interment will be in the Hartland cemetery.

A son of the late Christ and Betsy Newgard, he was born June 22, 1889. He had been a merchant at stores in Little Rock, Iowa and at Hills, Minnesota, before he returned to Hartland.

Mr. Newgard and Amanda Nerison were married Jan. 3, 1930. She survives him.

Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Ben (Berniece) Tukua of Alden; two brothers, Julius of Albert Lea and Arthur of Hartland; two grandsons; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

4619 Clarence registered for the draft at Grants Pass, Josephine, Oregon, on September 12, 1918, serial # 856, Order #A743. (His brother-in-law, Jesse Engel, was ahead of him in line, serial number 829, Order number A580.) His permanent address is Wonder, Josephine, Oregon. His occupation is lumberman but no employer is listed. His nearest relative is Lavina E. Howard of Wonder. Clarence is described as tall and slender with blue eyes and brown hair.

His obit says that he was survived by a daughter, Dorothy Baker of Palo Alto, California, a sister, and two brothers.

In October of 1944, he was elected grand prelate of the Oregon Grand Lodge, Knights of Pythias. At that time, he was a member of the Medford, Oregon, Talisman lodge.

4620 Clarence V. Leikvoll, age 75, a resident of Little Falls, died May 11, 1999, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held May 13 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Steven Anderson of Grace Covenant Church officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.

Clarence V. Leikvoll was born November 5, 1923, in Little Falls, MN, to the late Sven and Olga Petersen Leikvoll. He grew up and attended school in Little Falls. He worked as a mechanic in Minneapolis for two years. Clarence was united in marriage to Verna J. LaLonde on July 3, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN. The couple returned to Little Falls where Clarence continued to work as a mechanic. He operated the Pure Oil Gas Station, then a Texaco Gas Station in Little Falls. He owned and operated the Sinclair Gas Station just South of Little Falls for over 20 years until retiring in 1986. He also served the area as the AAA (American Automobile Association) service manager for many years. Clarence enjoyed men's and mixed league bowling, fishing, playing cards, dancing and playing his guitar and harmonica.

Survivors include his wife Verna of Little Falls; son Dennis Leikvoll of Ramsey, MN; daughters Karen Newcomb and husband Les of Little Falls and Bonnie Krueger and husband Gary of Sauk Rapids, MN; brother, Reynold Leikvoll of Little Falls; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roland Leikvoll; sisters, Edna Gardner, Margaret Broberg and Florence Hoskins.

Pallbearers were Rod Newcomb, Scott and Mike Leikvoll, Ryan and Chris Krueger and Mike Rustad.

Verna and Clarence were married on July 3, 1943 in Minneapolis.
