Christine M. Anderson, 96, Harvey, ND died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Services will be at the First Lutheran Church, Harvey on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey. There will be no reviewal but friends may sign the register book at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Christine Marie (Ostrem) Anderson was born to Norwegian immigrants Even and Kjersti (Heen) Ostrem on April 21, 1913 on the family farm south of Tioga, ND. Christy was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church of rural Tioga. She attended District 4 Williams County country school and graduated from 8th grade on June 30, 1927. During the summers at the age of 8 years old, Christy was babysitting and doing housework for relatives and neighbors in the Tioga area. In 1929, the Ostrem family moved to a farm north of Manfred, ND. Christy stayed and worked in the Tioga and Ruso area. In 1930, she joined her family in Manfred. She had many stories of the days she helped in the cook car during harvest. She also enjoyed the church functions, gathering of friends and dancing at the Sons of Norway Hall.

It was at one of those dances she met Gordon Anderson. She said he looked like a movie star! Christy and Gordy were married in Minot, ND in 1935. They lived in Manfred where two children were born, Darlene and Rodney. In 1943, the family moved to Harvey where Gordy worked for the Soo Line Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. Two more children were born, Robert and Sandra. In 1966, Gordy suffered a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair. Christy was his caregiver until his death on May 31, 1992.

Christy was a loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She taught by example. Most of her friends called her an "Angel". She was always there to help in a time of need. She enjoyed to the fullest the times spent with family and the many games of Shanghai.

Christy was a member of the Vang Lutheran Church of Manfred and First Lutheran Church of Harvey. Christy was faithful to her Lord in quiet and simple ways. Christy entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in September 2009.

Christy will be deeply missed by her family, Darlene (Bill) Quenette of Moorhead, MN, Rod Anderson of Goodyear, AZ, Sandra (Bill) Krebs of Oshkosh, WI; brother, Arnt (Phyllis) Ostrem of Gresham, OR; sister-in-law, Lila Anderson, Lincoln, CA; many special nieces and nephews; grandchildren, David (Avis) Quenette, Suzanne (Sam) Wagner, Dr. Stephen (Nikki) Quenette, Mark Quenette, Jeffrey (Kandyce) Fraser, Andrew Fraser; five great-grandchildren several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Christy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert; son-in-law, Jonathan Fraser; sisters, Bertha Satterlee, Evey Fisher, Ingrid Reinholt; brothers, Ivan, Lars, Hank, Ted, and Ivar; nephews, Don Ostrem and Darrell Fisher; and many dear relatives and friends.

Christy Joseph L. Christy, age 52, of Crystal passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 13th. Preceded in death by parents, Chuck & Lois Christy. Survived by wife of 28 years, Ann E.; two children, daughter, Danielle "D" (T.J.) and son, Fran; sisters, Chris (Jerry) Vener, Pam (Larry) Wittemore, Maureen Houghton, Pat (Doug) Kuehn, Jeanne (Jim) Leach and Laura Galleymore; brothers, Mike (friend Mary Jo) (Barb) Christy and John (Lyla) Christy. Joe was full of life, laughter and love. Everyone's buddy.
