4541 Charlotte (Waldron) Larson, 83, of Austin, passed away at Our House on Sept. 29, 2007.

Charlotte was born on Nov. 4, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Avice (Standish) and Victor Waldron. She moved to Austin in 1941 and graduated Austin High School in 1943. Charlotte and Elliot Larson were united in marriage in December 1943. Charlotte worked in Bremerton Navy Yard in Washington while Elliot was in the service. She also worked in Bremerton as a telephone operator and in an optometrist office. After that time, they settled back in Austin and continued to live there the rest of their lives. Two children were born into the marriage, Carole and Kevin.

Charlotte was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as chair of the Women's Circle and was president of United Methodist Women's Society. Always active in the church, she worked on many different committees and raised her children to be conscientious citizens and good Christians. In addition to her work with the Naval shipyard, Charlotte worked at her parent's grocery store, Woolworths, St. Olaf Hospital and the Hormel office before retiring. She did volunteer work at St. Mark's Rest Home and the Red Cross, enjoyed traveling, fishing, painting, craftwork and her grandchildren. After they both retired, Elliot and Charlotte loved spending their winters in Donna, Texas.

Survivors include her husband; her daughter, Carole (Joe) Wike, San Pedro, Calif.; son, Kevin (Ellen) Larson, Cape Town, South Africa; her sisters, Sybil Wilson, and Jeannine (Dick) Buechner, Austin; sister-in-law, Phyllis Waldron; many nieces and nephews and her four grandchildren, Hattie, Reid, Jennie and Anna. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, June and brothers Victor and Rodney Waldron.

4542 Charlotte Marie Nierman Odegaard was born in Stockhansen, Germany to William and Mary Nierman. Mrs N J Odegaard longtime resident of Mellette died at the James Valley Nursing Home in Redfield, where she had lived since 1969. She was born in Stockhansen, Germany, and came to this country at the age of 6 months, with her parents. The family first settled at Red Wing, Mn and two yrs later took a homestead near Millard, SD, and later moved to Nicollet Mn and then to St Paul. She moved to Mellette in 1898 and was employed there two yrs. She married Nicholas Johnson Odegaard at Faulkton, Faulk, SD 12 Jul 1900 and they made their home at Mellette and lived there since. Mr Odegaard died 1 Mar 1948. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, one great grandchild and four sisters. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Mellette, an honorary member (and a member for more than 60yrs) of the Rebekah Lodge of Mellette. She is survived by three sons, Oscar of Grand Forks, ND; John of Aberdeen, SD; and N C of Seattle, King, Washington; four daughters Helen M Odegaard and Mrs S S (Oga) Jones both of Aberdeen; Mrs H G (Myrtle) Palmer of Mellette; and Mrs D E (Lavisa) Haddow of Brookings; sister Mrs Sophia Bokelheide of Aberdeen, 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. NIERMAN, Charlotte Marie (I21912)

Edwin Tasa passed away on March 29, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gladys. He is survived by his six children, Pam Dahl, Angie Whitney, Susie Baca, Amy Watson, Scott Tasa, and Heidi Burch; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his little dog, Trab.

Ed was born in Aitkin, Minn., on Nov. 9, 1934. He had 13 siblings and is survived by two, Edna Haymen and Larry Tasa.
Ed had a wonderful bond with his family. He loved sharing stories, poker games and camping trips with all of them.

He will be greatly missed but the life he shared with us is unmatched.

In the 1940 census, he and his family lived in Waukenabo Twp, Aitkin County, Minnesota. He worked in a saw mill. His wife’s parents and siblings lived nearby.

In the 1950 census, he and his large family (11 children living at home; their oldest, Mildred, was already living elsewhere) live in Washington County, Oregon. He worked in a saw mill.
