Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Helen Severson, 69, who died at Whitehall Community hospital Wednesday, January 15, 1947.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Simonson, who was born in Norway February 8, 1877, coming to America at the age of 15. February 25, 1901, she was married to Bernt Severson, and the couple settled on a farm in South Beaver Creek where they resided since.

She is survived by her husband, four children Nels of Eau Claire; Martin of South Beaver Creek; Mrs. Howard Erickson, Ettrick Township and Mrs. Melvin Hjerleid of Blair; a brother, Elias Simonson of Portland, North Dakota and 14 grandchildren. One son, Martin Selmer, preceded her in death at the age of two years.

Services were at 12:30 p.m. at the home and at 1:15 at Ettrick Lutheran church. The Rev. H.O. Aasen officiated and burial was in South Beaver Creek cemetery.

In the 1910 census, he is Louis Skogstad, age 28, a farmer in Kickapoo Twp, Mountrail County, North Dakota. He is just very recently married to Anna, age 22, also from Norway, and who came to the U.S. in 1901.

In the 1920 census, the family is still there.

In the 1940 census, Louie and Anna are still farming and Arthur and Obert are still home and single. Mildred and Clifford live just a few farms away.
