In the 1920 census, he was Lorraine Marshall, 19 and single, a “lodger” in a hotel in Virginia, Minnesota. His occupation was bookkeeper in a store.

In the 1930 census, he is Larry A Marshall, a commercial asbestos salesman living in Minneapolis. His household consists of himself, 30, born in Minnesota to a father born in Ohio and a mother born in England, his wife Margaret E, 29, and his sister, Virginia M, 18. Margaret is a bookkeeper for a wholesale dry goods company.

According to SSDI, his Social Security number was issued in Pennsylvania.

Shirley M. Thoe was born September 16, 1913 near Cummings, ND the daughter of the late Gunder and Lydia (Bagge) Thoe. She grew up and attended school there. She graduated from the Security Beauty School in Grand Forks, ND. She purchased a beauty shop in Grafton and worked there until 1953 when she moved to Park River and opened Shirley's Beauty Shop. She was united in marriage to Oliver Skeim on November 6, 1949 in Grafton. Shirley operated her shop until 1999 when she retired. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in October of 2007.

Shirley was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Park River American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children: Darrell (Beverly) Wegge, Grand Forks, ND; Lydia (John) Kelly, Park River, ND; Bonny (Larry) Dvorak, Park River, ND; Gary Skeim, Jamestown, ND; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Ardis Braseth, Moorhead, MN; Donna Benson, Oregon and Bev Helleckson, Edina, MN; her brother Walter (Juanita) Bagge, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Dennis and brother Johnny Bagge.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

In the 1900 census, she had had 2 children, both still living.

In the 1910 census, she had had 5 children, 2 still living.

In the 1930 census, she was a 61 year-old widow living with her two single sons in Kerkhoven Twp.

In the 1940 census, Herbert, Cornell, Myrtle, and Mary (”mother”) lived on a farm in Kerkhoven Twp. Myrtle, with two years of high school, was a postmaster. Mary had had zero years of education, Herbert seven and Cornell eight.

She was called Mrs. Marie Ellingboe in an article on her 88th birthday party “at her farm.” The article gave her birth date as February 28th.

She died of heart failure.
