BROOTEN — Raymond O. Shelstad, 91, of Brooten, died Wednesday at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials to the Sunburg Free Lutheran Cemetery Association are preferred.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Sunburg Funeral Home in Sunburg and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Raymond was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Benson, the son of Oscar and Ruby (Hollen) Sjelstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church of Murdock and attended District 66 school in Swift County.
Raymond was united in marriage to Phyllis Anderson on March 19, 1945. They lived and farmed in the Sunburg area until 1985, when he retired from farming but remained on the farm until 2002. In 2002, Raymond sold the farm to his stepson and wife, Charles and Barb Anderson, and moved into the Bon-Val apartments in Brooten. He remained there until his death.
Raymond had a passion for farming. He enjoyed attending auctions and visiting with his friends and family.
He is survived by his brother, Milton (and Elaine) Sjelstad of Sunburg; one stepson, Charles (and Barb) Anderson of Sunburg; four grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis in 1996; one sister; one brother-in-law; one niece and one nephew. | SHELSTAD, Raymond Olney (I13916)

Bruce A. Anderson, age 67, of Cannon Falls, died Thursday, Nov 7, 2019 at the Regina Care Center in Hastings.
Bruce Allen Anderson was born on March 11, 1952 in Red Wing, the son of Edsel and Hazel (Quamme) Anderson. He grew up in the Cannon Falls area, attending elementary school in Vasa and graduating from Cannon Falls High School in 1970. In April of 1972 Bruce was married to Karen Husaby and they had two daughters. Bruce worked for Lee Chevrolet, Point of Sales, and Leroy McCusker before going to work for Pepsi where he was a truck driver for 25 years, retiring about ten years ago. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Cannon Cruisers, a car club. Bruce was the proud owner of a 1974 Z28 Camaro, which his family still has today. He served as a volunteer with the Cannon Falls Fire Department and as an EMT for over 20 years.
Survivors include his children Heidi Anderson and Mindy Bekker; grandchildren Taylor Hansen, Pierre Bekker Jr, and Elizne Bekker; sister Barb (Bruce) Olson; former wife Karen Anderson; former son-in-law Pierre Bekker Sr; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bruce E. Erickson, 56, died March 25, 2006. He was born in Madison, Wisc., and was formerly of Stuart. He graduated from Lakeland High School. He attended Polk Community College. He was a charter boat captain in Stuart. He was a design draftsman and vice president of Phosphate Engineering and Construction Company in Lakeland. Survivors include parents, Bill and Charette Erickson of Lakeland; A brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Janet Erickson of Stuart; Niece, Zephyr Erickson of Atlanta, Ga., Nephew, Leaf Erickson, Sarasota, FL., Uncle, Robert Erickson, Salt Lake City, Utah and numerous cousins.
