3292 Beulah “Bea” Ann Estrem, age 72, of Pine Island, formerly of Wanamingo, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester- Methodist Campus.

Beulah was born July 9, 1942 in Faribault, Minnesota the daughter of Albert and Berniece (Nodland) Glestad. She attended and graduated from Wanamingo High School. She lived on the family farm raising four children. Bea then attended nursing school and worked at the state hospital in Rochester and the Zumbrota Hospital. Bea married Ken Estrem. He died in 1992. She worked at the Cannon Falls Truck Stop for seven years.

Bea had a kind heart. She was a foster parent and was involved with the citizens action council. She opened a battered women’s shelter on the farm in their basement providing help and safe place. She also was the coordinator for the WIC program.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (and Jerry) Fridholm of Hugo; Carol (and Jed ) Estrem of Elgin; Brian (and Elsa) Estrem of Wanamingo; Mark Estrem of Zumbrota; a special daughter-in-law, Nancy of Zumbrota; a brother, Edward (and Linnae) Glestad of Wanamingo; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Jason Glestad and a niece, Cindy Morgan.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Dale Lutheran Church with The Reverend Heather Culuris officiating. Interment will be in the Dale Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Dale Lutheran Church. 
GLESTAD, Beulah Ann (I28298)
 
3293 Beulah (Strand) Hanchett, 89, passed away 6/17/2009 in Sparks, NV. Beulah was born in Tioga, ND on 2/24/1920 to Bertha and Gilbert Strand, the youngest of 3 girls.

She graduated from Tioga High. Marrying Lloyd Hanchett in 1948, Beulah worked as a house wife and mother to their son, Vaughon. In 1967, the family moved to Plymouth, MI where Lloyd worked for GMC and Beulah worked for the City of Plymouth. In 1986, they moved to Sparks, NV near Vaughon and his children. Lloyd passed away in 1996.

A proud Norwegian, accomplished at cooking and baking traditional foods, sewing, knitting, and most proud of her son and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Vaughon and his partner, Nancy Cise of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Susan Hanchett, Erik and his wife, Susie of Reno; two sisters in ND; a niece and three nephews.

A service will be held later in Tioga, ND. 
STRAND, Beulah (I11595)
 
3294 Beulah B. Nelson, Crookston, MN, formerly of East Grand Forks and Grand Forks, died December 8, 2005 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home with family members at her side.

Beulah Beatrice Ulvedal was born on April 23, 1913 in Grand Forks at the St. Anne's Hospital. She was the eldest daughter of Cora (Redwing) Ulvedal and A. J. Ulvedal. She began her education in Emerado, ND and graduated with a teaching certificate from Mayville Teaching College in 1930. She was a rural schoolteacher at an early age and taught students of all ages, some even older than she was.

She married LeRoy E. Nelson in 1936. They farmed near Inkster, N.D. and Thompson, N.D. They moved to Grand Forks in 1952 to continue raising their family.

Both Beulah and LeRoy were active in the Thompson PTA and were instrumental in starting the school lunch program. After the move, they were active in the Belmont PTA and its fundraising activities. Beulah played a part in the writing of the history of Belmont School. She was also active in the United Lutheran Ladies' Aid and was president of the organization in the late 1950's. She combined homemaking and career as her children got older. She worked at Willey's Jewelry, Norby's and later served as the store manager of the Fanny Farmer Candy shop until her retirement.

Beulah was known as a fantastic cook, which also included baking breads, doughnuts, and Swedish rice pudding. Many holidays, she decorated homemade Yule Kaka and had her children deliver it to friends and family. Education and hard work, ""If you want to teach kids to work, you must work beside them' were priorities for Beulah. Mother of her seven and many neighborhood kids, Beulah had an uncanny ability to understand children and their needs. She had a quiet personality but was firm in her conviction; she volunteered as needed and put in long hours in her many roles.

LeRoy E. Nelson died on December 10, 1986. She is survived by her sister, Vivian (Don) Bye, Bemidji, MN and Mesa, AZ. Children: Gayle (Jerome) Birkeland, Grand Forks, ND, Maureen (Ordean ) Jacobson, Fargo, ND, Sandra ""Jo' (James) Dunn, Mentor, MN, Donald P.(Cathy) Nelson, North Oaks, MN. Thomas L. (Joyanne) Nelson, Eugene, OR, Kathleen ""Tootsie' (John ""Gino') Gasparini, Grand Forks, ND and Gary J. M. Nelson, Fort Collins, CO. She has nineteen grandchildren who will serve as pallbearers/honorary pallbearers, twenty-four great-grand children, and two great-great grand children. brother-in-law, Gordon Caldis, Grand Forks, sisters-in-law, Lillian Ulvedal, Portland, OR, and Betty Ulvedal, Fairplay, CO and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Mildred Ulvedal, Evelyn Erickson, LeNore Caldis, and brothers, A.L. ""Bud' Ulvedal and Lincoln Ulvedal. The family is especially grateful for the care that Beulah received while at the Villa St. Vincent which was her home for twelve years. Funeral Services will be at the United Lutheran Church, on Monday, December 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks.

3295 Beverly A. Johnson, 83, formerly of West Fargo, ND, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at home in Inver Grove Heights, MN, under the care of Allina Hospice.

Beverly Ann Kilde, the daughter of Olaf and Annie (Thompson) Kilde, was born on October 28, 1933, in Dalton, MN. She graduated from Barnesville (MN) High School in 1951. She received her training as a registered nurse at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated in 1954.

On July 16, 1955, Bev was united in marriage to Norman E. Johnson, in Fargo, ND. They eventually made their home in West Fargo. Bev worked as an RN in St. Luke’s Hospital and Elim Care Center, both in Fargo, and in the Rolette Community Hospital, Rolette, ND. She also worked at deLendrecies Department Store in Fargo.

In retirement, the couple moved to the Twin Cities, to be near their daughter.

Bev is survived by her husband, Norman, of Inver Grove Heights; daughters, Charlene (Michael) Kreider, Jefferson, GA, and Colleen (Jonathan) Pudwill, Eagan, MN; two sisters, Norma Niacaris, Oakdale, CA, and Marilyn Torres, San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Derek (Catalina) Kreider, Andrew (Lana), David (Natali) and James Pudwill, and Alicia Shoemake; and great-grandchildren, Alexander and Lenka Pudwill, Asher and Avery Shoemake, and Elin and Atticus Kreider. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donita; her parents; and a brother, Donald Kilde. 
KILDE, Beverly Ann (I5684)
 
3296 Beverly Ann Schultz Stevens, a Lake Forest resident for over 65 years, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2019.

Born June 8, 1928 she will be greeted in heaven by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister and husband of 62 year, John Ole Stevens.

Beverly was dedicated to her family, celebrating every event with love and ice cream. She is survived by her 5 children, Peggy Stevens Hendershot, Scott Stevens,(Chris d) ,Mike Stevens, Lyn Stevens Drathring,(Curt), Ole Stevens,(Sonya), and 12 grandchildren, 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bev was a competitor and sports fan her whole life. Whether it was playing basketball in high school, sledding down the old Lake Forest beach road in the winter, playing women's volleyball at the recreation center, bridge with her lifelong friends or traveling the country playing golf in her retirement, she liked to have fun and to win. She worked as a secretary at Ferry Hall School and later as the Secretary to the Athletic Director at Lake Forest High School for 18 years. She was an avid fan of the Scouts athletics.

3297 Beverly Jean Flynn, 96, passed away peacefully at her son's home in Kent on September 27, 2023.

She was born December 11, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter of the late Eldo and Margaret (Thompson) Murray. She worked as a bus driver for Poland City Schools for over 25 years until her retirement.

Beverly was Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a charter member of the Poland United Methodist Church for 70+ years, and a proud and passionate supporter of Poland athletics.

In her spare time, she loved to play cards, even learning a new game a week before she passed. Her love of sports, especially basketball, was unmatched.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Flynn, whom she married June 18, 1949, and who passed away February 18, 2007; her son, Dennis Flynn; and her sister, Ardis Vevle.

Beverly passed into Our Lord & Savoriors arms after a long illness on January 25, 2010 at Alaska Gardens Health & Rehab in Tacoma, WA.

Born February 28, 1927 to Lillian Larson and Howard Meharg in St. Paul, MN, Bev was adopted in 1930 at age 3 by Joseph & Helen Vachon of Fargo, ND. Growing up during the depression, the family moved around quite a bit before finally settling in Vancouver, WA in 1939. She was a graduate of Olympia High School in 1945 where she lettered in orchestra/violin. Bev went on to nursing school at Seattle University before deciding to change her career direction in order to become a dental nurse.

She was working in the bookkeeping department of the Bank of California when she married the love of her life John Koval on August 10, 1963. The couple settled in Miles City, MT where John was a Lt. of Police for the Milwaukee Railroad and where their daughter was born. The family later moved to Othello, WA before Settling in Federal Way, WA in 1969.

Beverly was a beloved wife and mother who loved music, reading and camping/fishing with her family. My mother was an exceptional woman with a warm & loving heart. She was always there for her family, friends and anyone who was in need. She was not only a wonderful mother, but my best friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla S. Koval and her brother-in-law Richard L. Koval, both of Tacoma, WA. Her husband John predeceased her in Oct. 2006.
