Bennie G. Hegrenes, 87, Ada, Minnesota, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Bridges Medical Center, Ada, Minnesota. He had been under Hospice Care.
Bennie was born on January 9, 1918, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the son of Johannes and Marit (Olsen) Hegrenes. He attended country school outside of Thief River Falls. After his parents died, he worked on several farms until 1938. He then moved to Borup, Minnesota, to work for his brother, Joseph Hegrenes. He worked there until he married Laura Malakowski on December 9, 1941, at her parent's house near Lockhart, Minnesota. He then worked on the farm for his father-in-law, Frank Malakowski, until 1946. They purchased a house at Lockhart and Bennie began farming on his own. He farmed until 1970. After retirement from farming, he worked for Anderson Building Center in Ada. In 1973, Bennie had a house built in Ada. He continued with Anderson Building Center until retiring in 1983. He then worked part time for Ada Co-op, Vilmo Farms, and Tim Anderson. He was a very active member of Faith United Church in Ada, and served on the church board of trustees for a number of years. Bennie loved to bowl and has many trophies to show his winnings. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved to work in the garden, and do yard work. He delivered Meals on Wheels for many years until he was too sick to continue.
Bennie is survived by his wife, Laura, a resident of Bridges Care Community, Ada, one son, Ordean (Susan) Hegrenes, Rochester, MN, one daughter, Lila Hegrenes, Ada, MN, four grandchildren, Mark Hegrenes, West Fargo, ND, Jon Hegrenes, Rochester, MN, Aaron (Tara) Hegrenes, Rochester, MN, and Jason (Stefanie) Hegrenes, Shakopee, MN, two great grandchildren, Logan Hegrenes, Fargo, ND, and Adam Hegrenes, Rochester, MN, three sisters, Mrs. Norton (Olga) Nelson, Thief Rivers Falls, MN, Mrs. Bob (Hazel) Oden, Minneapolis, MN, and Mrs. Paul (Doris) Senstad, Golden Valley, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Casper, Joseph, and Henry, five sisters, Mildred Hegrenes, Gerda Knutson, Christine Barstad, Selma Westby and Anna Leiran. | HEGRENES, Bennie Gustav (I23601)

Berg, Thomas S. 62, of Minneapolis, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 6 after a valiant, year-long effort to conquer Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Preceded in death by father, Denzel Sherman Berg and mother, Audrey Kathleen Berg (Carr). Survived by loving wife Sheryl O'Connor, brother Jerry and wife Linda of Winterhaven, Florida, brother Terry and wife Jennifer of Maple Grove, Minnesota, son, Zachary Paul, aunt Audrey Blom, many cousins, nephews and nieces, a wide circle of loving friends and his much-loved pets. Thomas lived life passionately, and left little undone. He will be greatly missed.
