Belva K. Sorensen, 82, of Dell Rapids died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995 at the Dell Rapids Community Hospital.

Belva Jensen was born on Feb. 16, 1913, at Colman, the daughter of Carl and Magdaline Jensen. She grew up in Colman and attended school there, graduating from Colman High School in 1931. She worked in Dell Rapids until she married Elmo Sorensen on Sept. 12, 1935, in Colman. They made their home on a farm near Colman all of their married life. Mr. Sorensen passed away in 1971. In 1973 Belva moved to Dell Rapids and had worked at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home for 19 years.

Belva was a member of the Methodist Church in Dell Rapids and the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by one grandson and her parents.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Ron and his wife Betty of Brookings; her daughter, Mrs. Sharlene Price of Portland, Ore.; her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and her sister, Mrs. Pearl Crowder of Casa Grande, Ariz.

The funeral service for Belva will be on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church in Dell Rapids. Internment will be in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 1994, at Kahler Funeral Home.

Rev. Darrell Leach officiated at the service. Sandi Sittig was the organist and David Stenberg was the soloist. Eugene Witte, Dean Larsen, Harold Anderson, Bob Reiff, Lauren Christensen and Bob Stenberg served as casket bearers.
