Winona Anderson of Eugene died Sept. 22 of age-related causes. She was 89.
She was born March 24, 1915, in Benson, Minn., to Albin and Tess Carlson. She married Kermit Anderson on Dec. 28, 1940, in Willmar, Minn. He died in 2001.
She lived in Minnesota until 1957, in Sioux Falls, S.D., until moving to Portland in 1967. She moved to Eugene in 2003.
She received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Minnesota in 1935. She taught high school civics and history in Morris, Minn. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church. She was assistant treasurer for her church and enjoyed hosting parties, exploring Oregon, participating in heated political discussions, working out in the gym, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was a volunteer leader of Girl Scouts and Jobs Daughters.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Anderson of Eugene.
