22627 We’ll assume that he is the Roy P. Hultgren, b. 3 Jul 1896, who died in Montana 7 April 1967. In the 1940 census he is called “Ray” Hultgren and is living in Miles City, Montana, with his wife Ellen and their son Richard.

A Roy Hultgren married Ella Wolfgram in Todd County, Minnesota, on 13 May 1920.

22628 What we know about Belle comes from research done by Pamela Johnson:

In the 1900 census, she was single and living with her parents and siblings in South Philipsburg, Granite County, Montana. Her father was a saloon keeper.

In the 1910 census, she and Gale Willard, a rancher, lived in Fergus County, Montana. She had a son, George, not quite two years old, born in Washington.

Gilbert Dale was the last of her four husbands. She seems to have first married Peter Junk in 1900. Her second marriage was to Gale B Willard in Spokane County, Washington, on 21 May 1908. She had a son, George, with Willard. On the marriage certificate for the marriage to Willard she claimed that her name was Belinda Corneil and that it was her first marriage. She also claimed to be 24 years old. She divorced Willard in 1912. Her third marriage was to someone named Powers. She was Belinda Jane Powers when she married Gilbert Dale.

22629 When Albert registered for the draft, in June of 1917, he was shown as 27 years old and born on August 17, 1890. These two pieces of information are not consistent. In the burial records at Fort Snelling, and in the MHS death records, his birth date is shown as August 17, 1890. In the 1900 census, he is shown as 10 years old and born in August of 1889.

He was a Private in the U.S. Army in World War I.

The MHS death index has his mother’s maiden name as Oldne.

22630 When Annette was born, the family lived at 1202-1/2 20th Avenue North.

In the 1909 Minneapolis city directory, Clarence Cuthbert was a porter who roomed at 250 Hennepin Avenue.

In the 1910 census (April 19th), he and his wife and child lived on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis. Clarence was a barber. His child, Annette, was five months old.

He registered twice for the World War I draft. The signatures are identical on the two cards.

The first time was June 17, 1917, in Minneapolis, as Clarence E Cuthbert. In this registration, he was 30 years old and born 25 Sept 1887. At that time he was married with two children and lived at 4528 34th Avenue in south Minneapolis. He was the manager of Victory something in Minneapolis. He was 5 feet 7.5 inches tall and of slender build with blue eyes and brown hair.

The second time was on September 12, 1918, also in Minneapolis, as Clarence Eugene Cuthbert. In this registration, he was 34 and born on September 25, 1884. Now he was a tool maker for Minneapolis Steel and Machine Company at 27th Avenue and 27th Street in Minneapolis. Clarence lived at 255 Hennepin Avenue. He gave his father as his nearest relative. He was of medium height and build with blue eyes and brown hair.

Apparently he divorced, or at least separated from, Edith between the two registrations.
