Hazel Edna Piriak, age 88, of Salem, died at 5:56 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem. She was born May 26, 1927 in Osnabrock, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Johnson) Vollum. 
 
She worked at the former Schwartz Department Store, the former Engle’s Bakery and Salem High School Cafeteria. She was a very active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
 
Her husband, William Piriak, whom she married March 11, 1948, preceded her in death September 13, 1995. Two brothers, and three sisters also preceded her in death.
 
Survivors include a son, Andrew D. (Ann Blank) Piriak of Prineville, Oregon; a daughter, Valerie Piriak of Sante Fe, New Mexico; a sister, Dorothy Olson of Florida; a niece, Marlene (James) Knezetic of Salem; and a great nephew, Jimmy Knezetic of Salem

The Duluth telephone directory of 1949 lists a Geo Thompson living at 202 West 3rd Street. His phone number was Melrose 4540.

Living with his parents in Mahnomen County at the time of the 1920 and 1930 censuses.

In the 1939 Duluth city directory, he and Frances live at 704 E 2nd. He is an ice-cream maker for the Arrowhead Co-op Dairy. Frances is a maid.

In the 1940 census, he and Frances and George lived in Duluth at 2906 West 2nd Street, a rented residence. Five years earlier, George had lived on the family farm with his parents in Mahnomen County and Frances had lived in Eveleth. George was a high school graduate, Frances had a 7th grade education. George was a checker at a creamery. He had earned $500 in 1939.

In the 1943 Duluth city directory, he and Frances live at 11 S 60th Avenue W. He is a checker for the Arrowhead Co-op Creamery.

In the 1944 Duluth city directory, he is George E Thompson, “helper”, who lives with his wife Frances at 11 South 60th Avenue West.

In the 1946 directory, he is a roofer for Gold Bond Roofing.

In the 1957, 1958, and 1960 directories, he and Frances still live at 11 S 60th Avenue W. George was a laborer for the DM&IR.

His obituary was published on p. A8:1 of the May 8, 1983, edition of the Duluth News-Tribune:

George E. Thompson, 79, of 11 S. 60th Ave. W., died Saturday in Hospice Duluth at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born in Clarissa, Minn., and had lived in Duluth since 1937. He worked for the Duluth Missabe & Iron Range Railway at the ore docks before retiring in 1967. He had previously worked for Arrowhead Creamery. Surviving are his wife, Frances; two daughters, Ursula Karlen of Blaine, Minn., and Rose Stewart of Esko; two sons, George A. of Duluth and Frank J. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Anna Peterson of Elk River, Minn., and Ida Luce of the state of Virginia; three brothers, Edward and Clarence, both of Elk River, Minn., and Melvin O. of Duluth; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bell Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Living at 408 15th Ave. in Moline, Illinois in the 1920 census (January 10th). The family was Martin J., 32, Mollie, 26, and Orvil, 1 and 7 months. Martin works in a factory, his occupation is illegible.

At the time of the 1930 census, Mollie and family were living at 1016 27th Street in Moline, Illinois, in a house they were renting at $15 per month. The household had a radio. The family consisted of Martin J., 40, Mollie B., 36, son Orvall M., 11, and son Jack D., 5. Martin was born in Iowa and his parents were born in Ireland. Mollie is shown as having been born in Minnesota and her parents in Norway. Both boys were born in Illinois.

Couldn’t find her in the SSDI. She was not listed as a survivor of her brother Melvin in his obituary.

Her obit gave her address as 503 Center Court, Springbrook Courts, Moline.

Carrie L. Vukelich, 56, of Pequot Lakes, MN died in her home on Monday, January 15, 2018. Carrie was born on March 10, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN to Elvin and Clara Ellingboe. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and being barefoot outside in the summer. Carrie’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Carrie is survived by her children, Mindy Vukelich, Randi Molby, and Heather Vukelich; seven grandchildren, Talib, Abigail, Sterling, Ayva, Jayda, Jemma, and Jace; and three siblings, Keith Ellingboe, Lisa Iler, and Brian Ellingboe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Clara Ellingboe; first husband, Michael Vukelich; and second husband, Kim Holden.
