DENNISON--(Special)--Funeral services were held at the Vang Lutheran church, Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. for Joseph Kasa, 52-year-old resident of the High Prairie area. The Rev. Adolph Egge of Northfield officiated. Interment as at the Vang cemetery. Pallbearers were Theodore Frettem, Cyrus Midje, Helmer Kasa, Selmer Gilge, Ludvig and Thomas Soine. Joseph Kasa, the son of John E. and Marit Kasa, was born December 14, 1899 in Warsaw township. He was never married. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. John A. Underdahl of the Wangs community and Mrs. Betsy Dalbotten of Kenyon. One sister, Mrs. Sever (Anna) Simonson died several years ago. One brother died in infancy. Mr. Kasa engaged in farming and also operated a truck hauling milk from the farms to the Northfield Milk Products company at Northfield. On Thursday morning while he was discussing plans for building a new garage with two carpenters, Ole Midness and Oscar Kappedahl of Cannon Falls, he was stricken with a heart attack and died a few minutes later. | KASA, Joseph (I11112)

In the 1910 Norwegian census, she is living on farm 51/1, Nerre Lajord, in Vang. This is apparently her brother’s farm but she is in a separate household. Living with her is Johannes G. Okshovd, b. 1840. Marit’s birth date is shown as 28 July 1842. Her occupation is “Lever av formue, har en kostgjænger,” (lives off wealth, has a boarder).
