21519 The January 9, 1954, edition of the FFDJ noted that “Miss Anna Stangvik returned the first of the week from Duluth where she was a guest of her brother-in-law and sister, Mrs. H. S. Wold and family, through the holidays.”

She is probably the Randi Stangvik, b. June 1887 in Norway, “niece”, who is living on the Ole Aarnes farm in Dane Prairie Twp, Otter Tail County, in the 1900 census. She came to the U.S. in 1897. So Randi is either the niece of Ole, born Jan 1857 in Norway, or of Ole’s wife Randi, born Apr 1869 in Norway. Ole came to the U.S. in 1881, the older Randi in 1886. Next door to the Aarnes farm is the farm of Martinus Torvik. Martin and his wife came to the U.S. in 1887. It would seem that the younger Randi is the niece of the older Randi. The older Randi is probably the Randi Martinusdatter born 22 Apr 1869 in Stangvik (bapt. 30 May) to Martinus Larson Torvik and Marie Lornsdatter.

The 9 year-old Randi Stangvig arrived in New York with her family on May 20, 1897, aboard the S.S. Aurania. The family, bound for Wadena, Minnesota, consisted of Ole O. Stangvig, 50, Marit, 46, Lars, 20, Peder, 17, John, 11, Randi, 9, and Anne 4. John and Rangdi are servants in Otter Tail County in the 1900 census.

Her daughter Louise Wold was the informant for her death certificate. Both Louise and Randi lived at 1025 E. 8th Street in Duluth. Randi died of pneumonia after a stroke brought on by diabetes and obesity.

Her obituary was published on p. 6A:3 of the June 18, 1977, edition of the Duluth News-Tribune:

Randi Wold, 89, of 1025 E. 8th St., died Friday in a Duluth hospital. Born in Stangvik, Norway, she had been a Duluth resident for 67 years. She was a member of the first graduating class of registered nurses from Wright Memorial Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by three sons, Harold, Fort Worth, Tex., Richard, San Raphael, Calif., and Robert, St. Paul; five daughters, Helen (James) Merrick, Glen Rock, Pa.; Kathryn (Arthur) Bowers, Minneapolis, and Lucille (Oscar) Olsen, and Ruth and Louise Wold, all of Duluth; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
STANGVIK, Randi K (I1316)

21520 The Jasperson Family Tree refers to him as Augustus and says that he resided in Antioch, Wolfe County, in 1900. HATTON, Augustus (I6948)
