Various records have her birth date as 28 Jun 1872 and 17 May 1873. Neither of these can be correct if she is Mary’s sister because there was no one between Siri and Marit in the 1875 census. Selma is either Siri, born in 1870, or an as yet unidentified daughter of Ole and Barbro born after Marit. (No such daughter was found in the birth records or confirmation records.)
And she must be Mary’s sister. Mary “Nass” and her soon-to-be husband Ole were witnesses to the marriage of Selma “Nass” and Ole Nelson on 18 May 1904 at West Christiania. The church record for that marriage shows Ole Nass and Barbro Nass as the parents of Selma.
Came to this country in 1903.
She was 37 in the 1910 census (implying b. 1873). Called Felina in the 1920 census, at which time she was 46, again implying a birth in 1873.
Died of “valvular heart disease with motor paralysis of legs.” The informant for the information on her death certificate was her husband Ole.
The L Jacobson Family Tree has her birth date as 17 May 1873 and her name as Senia. | NESS, Selma (I1012)
