20571 There were two Peter/Peder Tvinge/Tvenge/Twenges in the same part of North Dakota at the same time.

Peter Twenge and Thora Hovrud had a daughter Thea born 20 May 1883 in North Dakota.

P. Tvinge and his wife Berit (née “Tomson”) had a daughter Caroline Ragna who, at the age of 14 years, 2 months, was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran in Hatton, North Dakota, on 8 Dec 1895.

Peder Tvenge and his wife Thora had a daughter Thea who, at the age of 15 years, was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran in Hatton, North Dakota, on 30 May 1898. Find A Grave calls him Peder Pederson Tvenge (1846-1903) and his wife Thora T. (1850-1940). Both are buried in Bethany Cemetery in Traill County and the entry for Peder says that he and Thora were married in 1873.

Thus, Peder P. Twenge, who had the daughter Thea and, earlier, a son Ole (b. 1877) as well, apparently, daughter Kari and son Peter, cannot be the father of Caroline and Ida.

There are records of a Peder I Tvenge involved in a court case in the 1890s in North Dakota.

20573 There were two Randi Ellingbös born in Vang in the 1869-1870 period. One was the legitimate daughter (#4059) of Tollef Oleson Ellingbö and Marit Jøgersdatter. The other was this Randi, the illegitimate daughter of Iver Knutsson Ellingbö and Randi Olsdatter Ellingbö. Randi Iversdatter Ellingbö left Vang on 4 September 1889 for “St. Paul.” A Ragdi J. Ellingboe, spinster, age 19, arrived in New York on September 27, 1889, aboard the S.S. Britannic.

In the 1910 census, she and Thorsten and family were in Hickory Twp, Pennington County (formerly Red Lake County) in Minnesota. At that time, Rande had had 10 children, 8 still living, and 7 of whom (Thorsten A, Olaf, Maria, Hannah, Harald, Ruth, and Rudolph) were still living with her and Thorsten. Rande came to the U.S. in 1889.

A land ownership map from 1911 shows that the Kvale farm in Hickory Twp was 160 acres, the southeast quarter of Section 17.

They were still there in 1920. Rande came to the U.S. in 1889.

In the 1930 census, Randi and Thorsten Kvale were living in south Minneapolis (5344 30th Avenue South, near Lake Nokomis) with their daughters Ragna O, 18, and Agnes V., 16. Thorsten is a cabinet-maker with a sash and door firm.

In the 1940 census, Randi and Thorstein lived in Inglewood City, California, in a house that they owned. Thorstein had been a carpenter for a cabinet manufacturing company. At the time of the census, he was no longer employed and was considered retired. The couple had lived in Los Angeles in 1935. Each had a sixth-grade education.

She died in Paradise, California, where she had lived for 7 years. Her obit (Chico Enterprise-Record, 6 Apr 1956) mentioned a surviving brother Ole Ellingboe of Minnesota. She and her family may not have known that Ole had died many years earlier.
ELLINGBOE, Rande Iversdatter (I5753)

20574 There were two sisters named Anne. If the bygdebok is to be believed (Vang C, p. 284), it’s this Anne, the older one, who had the child named Marith with “lærer Nils N. Stølen.” In the birth record, Marith’s father is called Niels Nielsen Remen. FRAMSTAD, Anne Olsdatter (I29435)

20575 Theresa and Floyd visited her on Sunday, Feburary 24, 1974. Theresa noted, “She was 92 {on Monday} and does real good. She cooked coffee and a big lunch for us.” SMITH, Elsie (I4434)

20576 There’s not much to go on with Edward and what we have is contradictory.

An Edvard was born in Rakkestad on 1 Jul 1844 to Syver Eriksen and Anne Marie Larsdatter. That Edward is probably the Edvard Syversen “indtinget Fattiglem” (impoverished) on Orud in Rakkestad with the Kristen Olsen family in the 1865 census.

Birth records for Nes in 1844 are not available on Digitalarkivet. Confirmation records in Nes for the applicable dates do not include an Edvard Severson.

The Edward Severson who died of sepsis on April 5, 1915, at the Parkview hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota, was shown as 75 years old in the brief obit in the Jamestown newspaper. That Edward’s obit said he normally lived in Robinson and that he was survived by two sons who lived in Robinson. That Edward Severson’s Find A Grave entry says that he was born in Norway in 1841.
