20561 There was different Alvin Qualley, middle name William, also born in 1904 in Minnesota.

In the 1940 census, he lived in Tioga, North Dakota, and was employed by an oil company.

His obit:

Monroeville, Ala. - Funeral services for Alvin Quale, 96, of Monroeville, formerly of Tioga, N.D., will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, at First Lutheran Church in Tioga. The Rev. Chris Montgomery will officiate and burial will be in United Cemetery, Tioga. Alvin Gunther Quale was born July 4, 1904, in Benson, Minn., to Ole and Julia (Overbo) Quale. He was raised on their homestead northwest of Ray, where he attended Dillon School and Ray High School, graduating in 1925. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1920 at Rainbow Valley Lutheran Church. In 1928, Alvin became the Standard Oil bulk agent in Tioga, retiring from that job in 1963. He was united in marriage to Jennie Eskeland on June 21, 1933. They subsequently made their home on north main in Tioga for 64 years and raised their three children there. During his years in Tioga, he was active in the Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Tioga School Board, was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was active in the First Lutheran Church. After Alvin's retirement in 1963, they spent a number of years traveling to various places during the winter months. The Quales moved to Alabama to be close to their daughter, LaDonna, in 1997. Alvin died at the Englewood Health Care Center in Monroeville on Tuesday, May 29, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Verona Skabo and her husband, Ron, of Lakewood, Colo., and LaDonna Herring and her husband, Dick, of Monroeville, Ala.; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; son Corvin; one granddaughter; his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.

20564 There were two Arthur Tosos born in Minnesota in February of 1896. Arthur Thomas was born to Ole and Netta. Arthur Bernhard was born to Conrad and Ida.

Arthur Thomas appears in the 1900 (as Thomas) and 1910 censuses with his parents.

20565 There were two Christopher Lockrems born at about the same time in Vang. The other one (#25778) was born 3 Nov 1830 (bapt. 16 Dec) to Lars Christopherson Lockrem and Anne Østensdatter. Both Christophers raised families in or near Goodhue County, Minnesota.

This one, a first cousin of the one born in 1830, married one of his 1st cousins.

In the 1870 census, he and “Jane” lived in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County. The household consisted of Christopher, 39, Jane, 31, Edward, 11, Annie, 9, Andrew, 7, Augustus, 3, Malina, 2, and Lauritz, 6 months.

In the 1880 census, he (mis-indexed as Lachsenn) and his wife and 8 children lived in Stony Run Twp, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. The household consisted of Christopher, 49, Gertrue, 43, Edward B., 21, Anna G., 19, Andrew K., 17, Augustus S., 14, Malina, 12, Lauritz, 10, Sofia, 6, and Julia, 4.

From HISTORY OF THE MINNESOTA VALLEY, published in 1882. Chr. Lockrem was born in Norway in 1831; immigrated in 1849 and settled in Dane County, Wisconsin, afterward worked at tinner’s trade in Chicago, Cambridge and Janesville; moved to Independence, Iowa, and followed his trade three years. In 1856 he began farming in Rice County, Minnesota, and ten years later moved to Goodhue County; in 1873 he came to this town and bought 160 acres on section 36. He has held various town offices in this and other counties. In 1858 he married Gertrude Lien in Rice County; they have nine children living.

20567 There were two Gilbert Loes born of mothers whose maiden name was Ellingboe who were born at about the same time. One is this Gilbert. The other one is #6732.

In the 1940 census, he and Josepha and their five children lived in Stoneham Twp in Chippewa County in the same house in which they all had lived five years earlier. He was a farmer and had a sixth-grade education.

20568 There were two Knut Torgeirson Windingstads. This one is I6953 in Jim’s VS. The other one, Knut’s brother, is I6955 in Jim’s VS.

In the 1801 Norwegian census, he was Knud Torgerson, age 51, “bonde og gaardbeboer” on Hægge Nordre in Slidre. His wife was Ingebor Olsdatter, age 48.

20570 There were two Myhran families in the East Barton precinct in the 1900 census. Neither of them had a child named Norman so, unless Norman was renamed, it is likely that Norman was born after 1900.

The two families were:

1) Next door to Ole and Josie: Christian, 35, and Gurin, 28, with their children Tollef, 11 (Mar 1889), Gustav, 6 (Mar 1894), Paul, 4 (Feb 1896), and Bertha 5 months (Jan 1900). This family had come to the U. S. from Norway in 1897 although Christian had come a year earlier. Christian owned his farm, free of mortgage.

2) Next door to Carl and Maria Lundberg: Tollef, 41, and Birgit, 37, and their children Bergine, 7 (Apr 1893), Gustav, 5 (July 1894), Oscar, 4 (Feb 1896), and Albert, 2 (Mar 1898). Tollef had come to this country in 1884 and his wife in 1892. All of the children had been born in North Dakota. Tollef owned his farm free of mortgage.

In the 1910 census, both families were still farming in Pierce County, North Dakota and both had had more children.
